People forget - Darko is only 22 years old. I hope we can pick him up. But there are plenty of bruisers our there. I just hope Rockets front office steps up and lands some thugs for Yao. We really are just a thug or two away from being a legitimate threat. I also heard that Seattle is trying to ship Ridnour while listening to the Draft last Thursday. That could have been total BS but if it is true, that is someone I would like to see us make a priority. I think more than anything else we need a distributor. I could live with Hayes and Landry if we could pick up a passing point guard.
No one is under the cap except for Milwaukee and they have no need for Darko, so the best he can hope for at this point is an MLE deal unless Orlando has his bird rights. I'm not sure if they do or not.
Orlando seems like it would be an attractive place for free agents with the climate, city, and the team wants to win. They just got held back for years with Grant Hill's injury. They must have looked at who would be available in the next couple years and didn't see any stars switching teams. The sad thing is, i think the goal of all Eastern teams is just making it to the Finals, regardless of the outcome. That's a championship for them. As for Lewis, he might actually be considered a physical PF in the East against the players he'll be matched up against in that conference. It might even prolong his career a year or two playing in the East. I'll bet his rebounds and blocks go up. Plus playing next to Dwight Howard gives them the best front court in the East i can think of. Add another shooter or if someone like Redick steps up and they could come out as the #1 or #2 seed, which would probably translate to a 7 or 8 seed in the West.
I don't want any part in Darko. Why do people like that guy again? Because Howard cleans up all the defensive boards and anchors the help defense to make him look competent?
Thank god it is over. Moray can wake up from his pipedream and now show us what he can do. Is there still chance of getting Artest for cheap?
It is arguable who between him and Howard is the better 1-on-1 defender. I still don't like his soft style.
You think why rashed jump out of the two-year more-than-20-million contract? He WANT MORE money, that's why he would never come to play for hometown. BTW, the magic team can get more wins than supersonics.
well you know more than me on this. I guess the other question would be why would darko want to sign with us? it would seem he would be better off on a horrible team where he could "showcase" himself. I dunno...all I know is I don't want him for the MLE.
You're right. I wasn't aware that they were that far under the cap. That would make a lot of sense for him.
I wanted him bad but now I realize that he is just a little p***y that takes money over wins. I am also stoked he signed with O-town now we can take Darko off their hands. And if I am correct and I believe I am now Orlando cannot even make an offer for him.
That pisses me off. Here's the thing, I don't like Rashard, never been his biggest fan, but you're telling me we couldn't structure some kind of deal with him? the next two years all we have is MLE, after that we couldn't give him more than that? Past this year and next we lose the McGrady contract that eats up approximately 50% of our cap, and from there T-mac will probably be approaching retirement so his salary should go down a little, we couldn't fit Rashard in? Maybe my view is too cursory, or maybe Rashard just pulled a Mike James on our balls, who knows? It's probably both.
I like the idea of Darko, but I think that is a long shot too. Young big man with skills commands a lot of doughs.
