Well now all the inept trade scenarios can focus on Chauncey Billups for a while.

If Rashard starts to rebound and defend to his potential, they'll have something in Orlando.

I think they can still sign him to a higher contract than the MLE, all they lost was the ability to match, if I remember correctly.

I guess they have to renounce Darko now. Does anybody know the particulars regarding this?

Oh well. Would have been nice to have a 6'10'' matchup nightmare to go with Yao and tmac. However he is hurt a lot, and doesn't really give us the interior presence we need with Yao's weak defense.

The player I REALLY wanted/ do want is still Artest, psychoticness aside.

Alright! time to go for Darko...Just what the rockets need, Magic to overpay Lewis and let Darko go.

I think he benefited from being in an extremely weak FA class but I'm glad he made the decision early. Houston shouldn't get carried away with adding too much offense to this team as a result of Adelman; without defensive role players we don't stand a chance in the playoffs.

This is stupid money. I think Rashard is as good as he will ever be and the Magic are making a huge mistake by paying him max money. I'm no Darko fan, but the Rockets signing Darko to the MLE makes 10 times more sense than signing Rashard to this kind of contract.

Congrats Rashard. They showed you the money and you took it. Can't blame ya.

FYI....we aren't going to get darko for the mle. I have no clue why people think we will. some team will over pay for him in this weak FA class.

That's a crazy amount of money. I never thought the rockets had a chance to get him, or that he'd even be a good fit. But good god, that's a lot of money. What the hell is Orlando smoking?

Also, hell no to Darko. People think he's got all these skills, but his jumper falls in less than Stro's, his post defense is softer than Juwan's, and his desire is smaller than Cato's. He is a huge underachiever and I want him nowhere near this team.

Good news due to the timely manner in which it was done. This leaves us protected from leaving ourselves wide open waiting for a guy for the entire offseason, ala EVERY YEAR of Rockets existence. I would LOVE a 21 year old Darko comin' off the bench with post presence when Yao needs a rest. And whatever happened to the Artest deal?

    PG: Alston
    SG: T-Mac
    SF: Artest
    PF: Hayes
    C: Yao

    Bench: James, Milicic, Snyder, Rookies

That gives us a very potent second team scoring arsenal with MJ and Darko...

    Me likey vewy much...

my thoughts exactly. rashard made the smart choice going to orlando.

incredibly stupid move by orlando though. they just blew their cap on a 28 year old who really doesn't make them that much better. it's a different issue if he went to a team like houston that needed one last peice to get over the top, but a young team so far away like orlando?....total waste.

as far as darko, i'm not a huge fan, but i will say, if there is one coach who could get something out of him with that skillset, it is adelman. this should be interesting.

Which team has cap space to pay more than the MLE?

I'm happy this is over. Rashard would not have been a good fit for this team and definitely not worth 15 million a year. I don't understand how so many people are hung up on Rashard for the Rox. If the Rox are gonna overpay on a player that gets signed and traded or traded to them let it be Chauncey Billups or Rasheed Wallace. Granted they are a little older but they are players that fits specific needs for the team and are proven playoff performers.

This was the best move for Rashard and for the Rox.

I honestly don't see why everyone is so high on Darko but obviously he has something I have never seen him do. I just remember him on the bench in Detroit and he was out injured for a while...Anyway I still want Artest more than any player out there. I don't care how psychotic he is as long as he puts the ball in the basket and Artest has done that year after year so why dont we sign him and Darko then we are set !!!!!

hmmm...well now that I think about it very few teams do. I need to double check. maybe I am the confused one reacting out of anger that we are stuck with darko...the 21st century joe smith.

as weak as the Eastern Conference is, adding Lewis to Dwight Howard probably makes them a 4 seed at worst.

Good now we can concentrate on attaining Artest. artest would be alot better fit here then what Lewis would have been. send battier , rafer, v -Span and head to the kings for Artest and rahim.then use the MLE to sign knight and a combo guardand were rolling.i think raim would thrive under Adelman.

    James/Knight/Brooks
    Tracy/Wells
    Artest/wells/reed
    Rahim/Hayes/Novak
    Yao/Deke/big jake
