I can not understand our strategy. If the idea is to improve the defense (JVG), why was no attempt to bring Thibodeau ? He has a better relationship with Harden. What is Morey waiting to take a decision?

Batter has one of the best basketball minds in the league. He is a defensive genius. Plus he did some coaching in Miami.

Our front runners havent even been interviewed yet. Like how did morey do a 12 hour interview in 2012 and not interview him again.
    Its between

    1. Vogel
    2. JVG
    3. Messina

Im pretty sure. Vogel is a toss up between us and Orlando

What makes you think that the Rockets haven't interviewed Jeff Van Gundy and Frank Vogel?

Thibodeau's offensive style would not mesh with Harden in the slightest. JVG seemingly is open to bringing in a high-level assistant to run the offense....something Thibodeau wasn't willing to do.

I could look like a great coach too if I had that Warriors roster. Let's keep things in perspective, please.

Don't waste your time. He isn't interesting in coaching. Houston needs a guy who is up to the challenge.

Oh, they've more than likely been interviewed. For all we know JVG interviewed during the season while JBB was still helping the Rockets in their downward death spiral.

Maybe the interview(s) was/were simply not leaked to the media.

As far as we know he could have already made a decision. Just because something hasn't been made public that doesn't mean that it hasn't happened.

Here's a completely hypothetical example. Say the Rockets want JVG and he wants the job. JVG is still under contract to work the conference finals. If he were announced as the new coach then I assume that he's immediately under the same tampering rules as any other coach. That would limit the contact that he could have with the players in the conference finals.

In my scenario, maybe JVG wants to finish his obligation to his employer and wants to do the best job possible so he doesn't want to be restricted from contact with players.

Again that's just a hypothetical but the point is that a decision could already have been made but for some reason they don't want to announce the decision yet.

There's lots of rumors and reports about what's been done in the coaching search but much of that is probably inaccurate and there's likely much more that we've never heard about. The Rockets have kept the details of the coaching search quiet. We're not even sure exactly who has been interviewed.

How is JVG's broadcasting situation any different than Kenny's (who we also interviewed)?

It would only apply if one of them were named as the new coach. Simply interviewing for the job wouldn't be a problem.

Also Kenny does a studio show from Atlanta and isn't in direct contact with the players participating in the finals.

JVG has access to the players on off days, practices and pre/post-game. That would be a problem if he were the new head coach of another team. On air interviews aren't the issue.

EDIT: Think of this example. If JVG were named as the new head coach of the Rockets, how do you think OKC would feel about him having access to talk to free agent to be Kevin Durant?

The difference is JVG might actually get the job.

if this is true it really would be kind of fun to see someone like D'Antoni move from Philly to here. Would make it very interesting to watch next season even if Morey doesn't make a single successful free agent signing.

Peopl say a lot things on TV. Last week Charles Barkley was acting like he was truly concerned and cared for Dwight, lol. That changed the next day in Dwight's absence when he went on TV and basically called Dwight a liar.
