IMO this is unfair to KAT.

I been thinking the same thing about the empty stats.

He's put up really good numbers and they've tried to put talent around him and it never seems to work out.

This year they probably make the playoffs but does anyone expect anything other than a first round 4-1 exit?

The Rockets biggest issue is that their best big man won't play big man defense .... Is KAT a better defender / rim protector?

I really think Chet fixes the defensive issues for the most part, I want to get passed the draft and see who we come away with before I start spending max type money on someone who may or may not fit the roster or the needs of the team in general (paint defense).

Some teams are just black holes of suck where players waste away their careers or try and get out. Kings, Pacers, and Minny being the most obvious.

Minny has had talent in the past but it usually runs away from that mediocre organization when it can. KG, Love, Gugliotta, Marbury, Al Jefferson, Terrell Brandon, Sprewell, Cassell.

The only tradition for the TWolves are it’s best players leaving. Don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I’m team Chet all the way for this team. He fits perfect with Sengun and Green

I tend to agree. That's why the tank is by far the most important outcome this year. The Rockets really need one of those 2 players to build around.

Those two are my favorites. I think I still lean Chet because of the shot blocking but I would be ecstatic with either

KAT showed that he can be a rim protector. His blocks have consistently decreased each year. Some of that can be the result of reputation and some of it can be the result of more centers having range further out that draws the defender out of the paint. I wouldn't be too worried about his defense.

Luckily, the draft occurs before you can sign players (or make trades), so we will know where our holes are before we make trades. But it might be that based on conversations throughout the year that Stone knows where there might be deals to be had and bases our draft on that. Maybe Jovic is there at our second pick, but Stone thinks that a PG is going to be harder to get through trade (or thinks our depth at SF is good enough), so he goes with Kennedy Chandler. i think this draft is going to be just as exciting as the last one, not just because of the players we draft, but it should give us more focus on trade targets with our $80M worth of expiring contracts.

If you can get Donovan Mitchell you do it. Who cares what position our current guards play because chances are our current guards won’t ever be Baby Wade. I’d be down to gut our young talent and picks to create a duo of Donovan/Ayton

Personally, it would be tough learning how to not hate Mitchell.

See I’m out on Mitchell. If he’s not happy in Utah winning, unless he just wants a new city it makes no sense to bring him here from a timeline standpoint. It’s two to three years before we’re we’re closer to competing. Your hoping your next two drafts hit. You get him a year or two before he’s unhappy?

Agree to disagree. Zion is the only one of those three worth a gamble. We get rid of guys who don’t fit our timeline for a guy who does. His injury is the ONLY reason he maybe available. Maybe he is Greg Oden. If so, at that price I’m not sure it sets you back much.

Can’t see any reason this is a more attractive destination to Mitchell unless he just hates Utah. Even with Mitchell, we’re years away from being competitive.

I have been waiting for this kind of take, alright.

It would not set you back that much but you would waste your time on an injured player that is ultimately not going to be healthy enough to help you in the Play Offseason.

    Time is money IMO.

Also I do not see that in Zion, he is probably a SF/PF guy, he is unbelievably athletic but he is not skilled to the point that I take my hat off.

I would actually go for Lamelo Ball because the Hornets have been a dysfunctional team in the past.

Lost in all of this is the Zion is due for a hefty (pun intended) contract extension soon. If I was Stone Cold, would I want to trade away a very promising rookie in Sengun (on his rookie contract) and a potentially good 2023 1st round pick for a player that will expect a max contract even after getting fatter and coming off of foot surgery? No, I would not.

I had a counterargument at the last second.

LaMelo Ball could be wanting to go to a bigger market.

I agree with your trepidation, which is why I think they need to be ready to make another move or two. I don’t think you trade for any single impact player right now and then just go back to drafting players. You need to have a plan for at least two impact players or you haven’t really accomplished anything.

I do not think he is really unhappy now because obviously Utah is still a Top 4 team in the West.

These unhappy scenarios could be easily brushed off.
