We have one of the rising stars of the league on our team right now. Is he a max player? no. Will he get maxed out? yes. Do we want to lose him for nothing? no way. Waive Ryan Anderson and use the stretch provision, freeing up $14 mil. Find a home for Nene's expiring $3 mil and Onuaku's $1.5 mil. That's almost $19 mil towards a Capela resign right there. ...but that's likely at the expense of Lebron. They'll probably have to know how that domino is gonna fall before they resign Capela.
Nah in some garbage game against a garbage team like the Suns by a garbage guy. Hmmm...that is a lot of garbage in the previous sentence.
Agreed. I can't see any other scenario here. I will be beyond pissed if the Rockets let Capela go without getting something comparable or better in return.
After seeing Dwight (low IQ), Asik (no hands), Black (no skill), Nene (no youth), Anderson (no defense), ... we are keeping Clint...unless we can steal Embiid from the Colangelo ridiculousness
This is the thing about Capela. He is just about the perfect Center for our team. He sets good picks, he rolls to the basket well, and it good at catching and finishing at the basket. He doesn't try to play outside of his skill set or outside of the offense (which is a big contrast to the years of watching Howard). On defense, he is good and improving at rim protection. He is not able to create his own shot. He is not someone you can build an offense around. He is not to the point, yet, of being someone that you could say is the anchor of a top level defense (a la Gobert). IMO- He isn't worth a max deal but he is worth much more on the Rockets than he is on any other team. The Suns will probably draft Ayton, so they won't want to offer Capela a max. But if they or another team (like the Mavs) were to offer Capela a max deal, I think it would be more out of an attempt to screw with the Rockets rather than actually trying to get him.
if we had traded him before the deadline we could have gotten a couple 1st round picks. vs ....nothing. I would have rather had the picks.
you're simply speaking after the fact. it doesn't work that way in what world do you trade a young wing player off a 50+ win team. yeah everyone hates CP now but he played well in his time here and your post would of made no sense at the time being
replacing asian sensation ehh i guess he's ok but we can use a better poster plus he's too much of a liability. who wants to scour the internet for a replacement? i say we just tradehim to any site for some bandwidth.
no true. you either commit to paying him or you trade him and get assets. what you don't do is lose him for nothing. Losing him for nothing was not an option. Up until the Anderson signing, losing Parsons for nothing was Morey's biggest mistake. He would have netted us valuable picks.
Not true. Parsons was playing well, our team was doing well. There was no way we would have traded him at the trade deadline then. We were planning to get Bosh and then match Parsons and everyone in the NBA knew that. It also wasn't expected that Parsons would be offered a max contract. Cuban went out of his way to try to mess with our plans by overpaying him early in the free agent period. Then, when Bosh ended up changing his mind, if we had matched the overinflated Parsons contract we would have been locked in, but we were able to find Ariza for a cheaper, more team friendly contract so it made sense to let Parsons go then... and only then, not at the trade deadline. Context matters. If you wanted a better example, we should have traded Dwight for draft picks. We were in the middle of a bad season and he was clearly not happy here and it was pretty clear that we weren't planning to keep him. Totally different situation than Parsons. But even that, apparently we tried and weren't able to
Never said that nor do I think it. I did say Qi has the potential to be defensive player of the year and a much better defender than Capela.
