Right, because the Dems never tell elderly voters that the GOP will end Social Security or black voters that the GOP will revoke civil rights if they're elected. Scare tactics are used by both sides every election.
Duh, of course, but the GOP is MUCH better at it. Hands down! It's one thing to throw something out there but it's another to make it stick.
That's because the GOP comes up with something new(i.e. McCain's illegitimate child, Kerry selling out his fellow soldiers, etc.) each election cycle while the Dems use the same playbook from the last 30 years. That being said, they don't need to play dirty with Obama if he's the nominee. I'd like to see a legit debate on the issues between him and McCain. If Clinton's the nominee, then unfortunately it's gonna deteriorate into a mudslinging contest since that's what they're best at.
I totally agree here. I don't know how much the 527 type organizations will get involved, but I'm really hoping that McCain vs. Obama can and will be an issues-based contest. There are enough issues where they truly differ that they can provide a real choice to the country.
By "something new" you mean they come up with more outrageous and false BS to wake up the base. Why would dems have to convince black voters that republiklans are against their interests when all you have to do is look at the Willie Horton and Harold Ford Jr. ads? It just proves that they'll throw anybody under the bus to get elected. This "they both sling mud" meme is another lame excuse by the right. The fact that they hype themselves as the party of morality always seems to be forgotten come election time, when they're bashing and assassinating someone's character.
So, t_j freely admits that this is all a big game. Glad to see that he has taken at least a moderate reality pill. Now, if he would just stop spreading lies told by mentally unstable psychiatric patients, he would actually make some progress toward becoming a full fledged inhabitant of this little place I like to call "the real world."
