I also always wonder what so many people do for these congressmen. you can't help but think half of it goes to campaigning.

I wonder how many of the posts are basically useless sods, filled to curry favor.

But, as far as either issue, of all the hypocrisies in DC, these are pretty low on my 'oh-my-god-RAGE' list.

Hmmm, just out of curiosity do you think the House Republicans that granted the bonuses did so outta their own pockets or do you think they used tax-payer money?

Yes, why do they all need so many staffers? Since they all want to cut Debt, they should start by cutting their staff numbers and their own salary but 25% each.

I don't think you'll find much argument from anyone here on the bolded part. But as far as cutting their staff numbers, we don't know their jobs, so to assume they can be cut is presumptious. Isn't there someone on the board who is/was a staff member for a congressman or Senator? I'd be curious to hear their point of view on the possibility of cutting back the # of staff members.

Yeah, then we could portray them as hypocrites for talking about unemployment while at the same time contributing to it!

This cut doesn't really matter that much by itself, but it is the idea that counts. There have to be accross the board cuts if the debt is to be reduced, that is the only way you can cut a federal budget.

People are seriously nitpicking at this?

There are plenty of real things to complain about, stop wasting your time about staff salaries.

Funny thing is I'm sure the amounts complained about are pre-tax numbers making them even more insignificant.
