http://www.texrenfest.com/schooldays.html its the only weekdays they are open....specifically setup for the younger guests. While the weekends are still family friendly for the most part, they do intentionally tone it down a bit for the school days ones.
I went on Tuesday, it was pretty neat, but it was pretty tame for the kids. I liked it when the workers stayed in charecter, but some didnt even try. The cheese cake on a stick was great and major props to that one woman rickshaw driver. She weighed probally 120, was pulling at least twice her weight, and she looked pretty good too.
I miss being able to go to these in Oct. Up here they hold them in April thru May by which point it can get pretty damn hot! Still it's a great time, drink lots o beer and eats lots of food, turkey legs at these are just fantastic!
I asked her if she could drop me to Clear Lake. She was definitely in some kind of shape. Overall it was fun like usual. Drinking and overeating. And of course lots of boobage, but usually on bodies where you dont want to see boobage.
But of course! Can't have that big of a gap in drinking and eating festivals, plus we get to wear our little hats at Oktoberfest.....
Definitely see Sound and Fury.. Don't bother with Ded Bob.. the audience has the whole thing memorized, it has NEVER changed, not even one line, and the guy doing it clearly just doesn't give a flip any more. Make sure and sit in the Sky Chairs Oh and get there before the doors open.. you will have a good hour of peace before the huge crowds and the heat hit.. so by the time everyone else is crowding in and things are getting too close and uncomfortable and smelling a little bit too much like patchouli, you will be about done and ready to beat the traffic home, and still have a good chunk of your weekend left.
An ex of mine works there every year in the pirate area. I camped out there last year just so I could get pics of the fire breathers at night - got some great pics. It is pretty damn creepy walking around the festival grounds at night.
I got two comp passes last weekend at a fundraiser. Never been to it - I'm going to try to go in a few weekends.
beengoing out there about as long as I can remember. Started camping out there a few years back and that is the way to go. No driving home means drinking as much as you want and stumbling back to camp.
