So there is, what, a six month grace period after you are out of school? So if you consolidate, do you still have that grace period?

I suspect it depends on your lender, but in most cases you lose your grace period.

OK, I have finished up my research and the money that I could save before the rate goes up is a very good deal. Now, what if I contact my lender and they say I cannot do it while I am still in school? What are my other options? Also, let's say the interest rate drops back down to the 2-3% level in several years, can I get my loans affixed to that rate if they do? If I consolidate now, while still in school, does that mean I have to start paying them back right now or will they still wait until I am finished next year? I am not worried about losing my grace period now, these rate do look too good to pass up.

As far as I know most places have online applications and these must be completed by midnight tonight for me to qualify. Also, does it matter which organization I choose to do my consolidating with? Will the organization look up my info and gather up all the loans I have?
