After every Luther Head “3” Bill Worell would be like “Ohhhhhh Luther Headddd” throw back to TMAC and Yao era
this just reminds me of the severe lack of talent we had surrounding Yao and T-Mac until 08-09...and of course, by the time we finally had a legit squad, T-Mac was done
Man. The fact that Luther Head was on the team while you were in elementary school makes me feel old.
I remember he hit a few game winners for us over the years. I was there live for the poster of Ronny Cheerleader Turiaf. Here on clutchfans tho, he was the designated scapegoat until he was traded. (Then Rafer became the CF scapegoat) We asked him to do too much. He was not a PG and slightly undersized for a SG. We needed him to just shoot 3's and occasionally drive. So many times I remember him getting the ball with less than 5 seconds on the shot clock a lot and him forcing to shoot because Tmac became passive there towards the end of his Houston run. Played good sound defense, nothing spectacular but nothing to shake your fist at either. His 3 point shot was money in an era where 3 point shooting wasn't as valued. Surprisingly had very good up's for a player of his size. He would fit in nicely on this current team as a solid bench guy. Those late 2000's Rafer/Head/Scolandry/Battier/Deke/Yao teams were something to watch. So much heart and fight and Luther was a part of that culture then. And IDGF what any non-Rocket fan says, we were going to win it all the year we had Artest had Yao not got injured during the Lakers series. Luther Head would be an NBA champion legend. lol
I remember hating how this guy played. He was mediocre at best in my eyes. Still a nba player regardless and he made a few good plays. Not a even close to a rockets legend as he had no impact at all.
I liked Luther Head. He was a pretty solid starting guard for a while (especially considering where he was drafted) at a time when the team really needed the scoring. He had that one rough playoff series against the Jazz that unfortunately overshadowed what he had done up to that point, but he was a good player.

Lmfao I’m 25 now. I don’t think anyone under 20 is on this website the younger Rockets fans are on Instagram and twitter
Luther Head was the 3rd or 4th best offensive player JVG had in the end. And that's not a good thing. JVG's gets criticized for his bad offensive teams, but c'mon man.
