The oscars are voted on by their peers. Not some guy who watches a lot of movies and writes about them.

Media gets it wrong pretty often. See Derek Rose vs. Lebron, David Robinson vs Hakeem, Karl Malone vs Jordan, Malone vs Duncan, etc..

That's where your comparison falls short imo

Popularity contest my ass. Any person on this planet would rather have their fellow coworkers pick them as a winner for best in their field then a bunch of twits behind a keyboard who have never worked in that field before. James deserved the MVP last year.

This year. God no. I really don't understand the point of this thread.

The problem with talking smack is that you have to back it up. If you can't back up your trash talk, all you really doing is making noise. When he slighted Steph at his acceptance speech what did he think was going to happen? That Steph is going to take it even easier ?

Looking at some of the awards.
    Players MVP - James Harden
    Clutch Performer - Curry
    Hardest to guard - Curry
Player you secretly wish was on your team - Lebron
Coach you most want to play for - Coach Pop
Best defender - Deandre Jordan . (Kawhi/Draymond both wasn't in top 4 in voting)

Not sure about Deandre's Performance this year but Kawhi and Draymond really taking it to another level this year. Maybe getting slighted for this award might be a good thing.

I also thought Curry was better last year.

Curry is a better speech deliverer, someone who knows what to say in interviews

He owes his championship to the teammates that he has

Ok. Let's look at It another way. Does Curry care and brag he won the players award for hardest to guard? Does Deandre care about his best defender award? Are they gonna to have a best dressed award or best player to party with award this year?

Also, when the players talk about Curry this year, they ALWAYS mention something along the lines of "that's why he's the MVP" or he's the reigning MVP".

here is how the oscars are produced. have a little patience and read it. it may add a little bit to your knowledge base.
    http://www.vox.com/2016/1/14/10767930/oscar-nominations-voting

so when it comes to harden, we have to talk 'bout "players' votes", like there's ever been such an award or it means sth. i love it. lol.

The Oscars have the Golden Globes that predate them

The Golden Globes are give out by the Foreign Press of Hollywood while the Academy Awards (Oscars) are given out by a Jury of Filmmaking, Directing and Acting Peers

The NBA does not have several awards that are of the same value.

I don't have to read that to know what i said was right lol. The Academy is made up of mostly other actors, directors, film producers, film editors
etc... which would be their peers...

    hehe, ok, then.

on another note... let's say the league's mvp has always been voted by the players, and harden actually won the award last yr., what does that do or prove? what does that do to my team?

does it change the fact that the team's miraculous comeback against the clips was in fact ignited and completed while he's on the bench?

does it change the fact that he melted by having a record turnovers in a playoff series when the team needed him the most?

does that change the fact that he "led" the team to a .500 record while they're widely expected to be a contender?

does that change the fact that his defense is worse than questionable and thus makes him a one-way player at best?

does that change the fact that even on the offensive side he doesnt know how to play w/o the ball?

    i rest my case...

what are you even arguing? lol

I never said anything about Harden. I was just pointing out that the Oscar vs Mtv award analogy was fundamentally bad. Jesus Christ read man!

The damn analogy wasn't that bad.

You started going 17 layers deep with who was actually voting for the Oscars!

I was just trying to point out the NBA MVP award, in terms of clout/prestige, is like the Oscars while the Players MVP is like an MTV award or Peoples Choice in comparison.

    sheesh.
