I think this is a brilliant idea. In an era where there's always the controversy of whether to provide tax money toward stadiums, this would be an extra incentive for the team owner(s) to not blackmail millions of people with the threat of leaving. Want to move your team? Fine. But the history stays in the city in which it was made. This is the correct answer. I am completely baffled as to why McNair hasn't done this. The Texans would do well to recognize the history of football in this town, for better or worse.
This is random but at the Titans draft table at the draft, there is a Titans helmet, and an Oilers helmet.
I noticed that the Chiefs had a Dallas Texans helmet and the Chargers had a throwback on their table as well. I'm guessing all the original AFL teams did this. Of course, none of that changes the fact that Bud Adams is a pathetic douchebag.
If you go to Academy on 59/Greenbriar, you can get Oilers gear. They have Campbell and Moon jersey t-shirts and Houston Oilers "Football Club" shirts as well. I picked up a cap with the 50-year anniversary logo on the back.
I'm proud to be one of those who attended the huge pep rally at the Astrodome back in the day. I went with my Mom back then and it was awesome. We might get not have ever gone as far as we hoped, but that Luv Ya Blue enthusiasm was unbelievable.
Please forgive me for not realizing how necro this thread was. But it did give me a dose of adrenaline.
