It meant nothing to me. I don't think I even watched that game. I think the late game had already started.
made me sick to my stomach. the idea of a championshp parade in nashville for a team that broke my heart over and over again...the idea of that kind of payoff for those fans who just started rooting for that team after all the years of frustration for fans here...that sickened me. i remember where i was when it happened...i remember what i had been doing that day. and i remember rooting like hell for the rams to beat them.
What? Now they are gonna wear the old Oiler uniforms... I think it shouldve been like the Seattle Sonics and totally detach any history from the Oilers and Titans as soon as they left us
Looks like the "Houston Oilers" will be playing the "New York Titans" in Tennessee and the "Dallas Texans" in Kansas City!!!??? http://houstonist.com/2008/10/31/nfl_to_honor_original_afl_teams_in.php
Uh, wrong? When they moved, they were still the Oilers. They spent 2 years as the Tennessee Oilers with the same Columbia blue uniforms and the same oil derrick logo. They changed the name and logo when they moved into their new stadium. Maybe John meant that this would be the first time they would wear the Oilers uni since becoming the Titans, but that's not what he said. Oh, and this story is 2 months old.
Maybe he should've written that it would be the first time they wore their 1960 uniform since 1994 (or whenever they wore the throwbacks during the NFL's 75th anniversary season).
It's just being pissed that Bud took the history too. You'll never see the Ravens wearing throwback Browns gear. While what Art Modell did to Cleveland may be on par with or even worse than what Bud did to Houston, at least Browns fans got to keep their history and don't have to see stolen memories thrown back in their face every time their old team decides to wear throwbacks.
I totally agree with you, sir. Why are we concerned with our ex-girlfriends who, for one reason or another, are with some other dude now? Do we have children with them? No.
There is is. I saw the title, and without thinking, I thought we were going to see our Texans in throwback gear. Instead I'm reminded of the fact that we have no throwback gear, because Bud Adams has done everything he can to rob us of our history. I can see why some people wouldn't care, but those of us who were raised in an OILERS household should find it difficult to swallow.
Imagine that when you broke up with her she took that Olajuwon jersey she bought you for Christmas five years ago and wouldn't give it back. You loved that jersey. It was your favorite piece of Rockets apparel. Then a few years later you see her with some dude and you notice that he's wearing your Hakeem jersey. That wouldn't piss you off a little?
Again, Houston wanted no part of the Oilers when they left. Quit trying to rewrite history by saying Bud Adams robbed Houston of its history - Houston didn't want anything to do with it. The attitude of the city was basically GTFO.
even if you're mad about the team leaving this is nothing to complain about. its still the same franchise, they took their history, it was part of deal. but no one can just give up the history, the history will always be there. and its in nashville now.
