In the Nets first game of the Eastern conference finals against the Pistons, Richard Jefferson scored a respectable though average 11 pts in 34 min. Meanwhile, Griffin has already smoked his 3rd bowl.

    R. Jefferson F

    MIN 34
    FGM-A 5-10
    FTM-A 1-3
    OFF REB 1
    AST 7
    BLK 1

Pretty much all those points came on fast break passes from Kidd. He chunked his jumpers horribly.

Jefferson wouldn't be nearly as good as he is without Kidd giving him 3-4 dunks a game.

Exactly, this idea of going after someone who could be the next Kobe, Garnett, ect. is crap! I believe you should look at what a player has done and see if they have the heart for the game. Griffin did not prove either of these prior to the draft.

Yes I agree with a prior thread which stated that management had worked out the three player trade for Griffin prior to the draft, however, shouldn't they have done a little more research instead of listening to ESPN2.

Once again, we didn't want 3 picks that draft, we didn't have the roster space and we didn't want to pay luxury tax. IMO it was a 1 for 1, Eddie for Richardson. Richardson is looking real good right now, but I don't think its the worst trade in Rox history. Jefferson will never be the go to guy or cornerstone of a franchise, Eddie looks like he isn't even a starter, but still it's not 'that' bad.

garthomps, I'm still not convinced this Jefferson guy is better than Eddie Griffin. Do you have any more stats or newspaper articles you can post to help me make up my mind?

Also, if you could post something about the Rockets acquiring half of the Clippers team, that would be helpful, too.

i dont think having richard jefferson may be good to the rocs. well, judging by his numbers, RJ is really a great player. but EG brings defense which is essential for a championship team. plus, considering the line-up the rocs have now and instead of having EG they have RJ. it would be devastating. too much offensive fire-power can be suicidal. and RJ might not put that many numbers if he played here. they always said that too much is bad. i would take EG for RJ in a heart-beat!

Wasn't it the rights to Collins that we also traded for Eddie? Who was the other one?

I'm not down on that trade yet. Jefferson gets most of his points in transition because of Kidd. He wouldn't have excelled like that here or most other places.

Collins did look good yesterday, but he too would have languished behind Yao and Cato.

Besides, EG is just now turning 21. What do you think he may be like in a year or two? I think the jury is still out, and the flashes he has shown as a 20 year old PF starter in the Western conference have been impressive.

We should just consider him as a high school player still developing. He was a very young 1 year college wonder.

OKOK, I remember it, but I don't want to. You guys keep bringing it up to remind me. Stop it damn it! We need to look forward to the future and stop lamenting about the past.

I'm a fan of EG but if it could stop bbs members from reminiscing about the trade 2 years ago.. i'd prefer they would just trade him now..

Imagine how good we would have been with Richard Jefferson...the guy is so awesome...no doubt we would have had a better record last year with him in the place of Eddie...

Of course...that also means we wouldn't have won the lottery...and drafted Yao Ming...but uh...let's forget about that...because Richard Jefferson was the Answer to all of our problems...what an unpopular trade that was when it happened...

One more thought before I post Jefferson's stats for game 2 of the Eastern Confernce Finals:

Why is it that when people talk about Jefferson they think he only puts up numbers b/c he has Kidd to feed him the assist?

Obviously you guys dont' have confidence in Francis and Mobley. Then again, I certainly don't blame you! While we are all Rocket fans, do we have a false sense of security in the current (Ball hog) team

    Just a thought!?

Just a quick reminder for the Jefferson followers:

    Game starts at 7pm central

I think I might take this chance to go on the line in saying that we will see another breakthrough night in light of his *hit talking over the series

jefferson wouldn't put up the numbers he does on the nets with any team except for the nets.

    the intelligent people know why.

Quit bumping up your own thread when it's obviously a dead thread. Also, this forum isn't "The Richard Jefferson Watch" forum, so no need to post his game-by-game stats. You've made your point.
