Matt, I spoke to you before game 3 against the Lakers, sitting below your media booth. Just to reiterrate what I said that day, thanks again for posting, this is the stuff that we Clutch Fans LOVE!!!
So...In-N-Out for lunch? What? Paul Millsap? I can't imagine Utah giving up one of their young developing players.
are you joking? battier and cook for pryz and fernandez seems fair to me adding in bayless would be high robbery why would portland throw out their best PG prospect in a trade when PG is their weakest position?
cool! expandable is much cooler than being expendable. does that mean you soak him in a tub of water and he'll become bloated? then he can run around and squish people like a wet sponge. how neat!
This whole time I have been thinking our two best trade scenarios come from the Clippers or the Blazers. I like Priz, he's a hustler.
Pryz doesn't excite me one bit did you guys see how in every game in the playoffs he got like 3 fouls in the first 2 minutes.....I say no to Pryz and yes to Amare
they dont want to but when Boozer, Okur, and Korver all opted to stay their cap went to hell they are already over the tax and this is even before signing Milsap. Milsap is a restricted FA but if portland signs him to a higher than MLE type deal (which they can with their cap room) then its going to be tough real tough for Utah to pay that and all the extra tax money on top of that. Their former owner was always against having to pay the tax.
Found this little gem on ESPN's rumors section FREE AGENCY: Blazers prep huge offer for Millsap Paul Millsap | Jazz | Interested: Jazz? Trail Blazers? The Oregonian reports the Blazers are preparing a "toxic" offer sheet to Utah Jazz restricted free agent Paul Millsap. The Blazers hope the provisions of the contract will make it too difficult for the Jazz, who are already over the luxury tax threshold, to match. The newspaper also reports the Blazers may renounce the rights to Petteri Koponen and Joel Freeland so their cap room will increase from $7.7M to $8.9M. Millsap told the Blazers he would be willing to back up LaMarcus Aldridge at the power forward position. If the Millsap plan doesn't go through, the Blazers will go after free agent Brandon Bass. Chad Ford No. 2 Paul Millsap (Top Remaining Free Agents) "With Carlos Boozer out for most of this past season, Millsap proved he has the potential to be an All-Star power forward. He is unstoppable on the boards and can put the ball in the basket. Detroit, Memphis and Oklahoma City were all potentially interested, but no one has made him an offer, and the Thunder are the only team left with enough money to do it. "The Jazz want to bring him back. But because Boozer hasn't opted out of his contract, there's a small chance the Jazz won't be able to match another team's offer to Millsap, especially if it's a huge offer of $10 million-plus per year. With that big offer looking less and less likely, he may have to settle for less to play in Utah or, alternatively, take the one-year qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2010."
Looks like the Blazers are making Millsap an offer Blazers preparing offer for Utah's Paul Millsap After a series of trades fell through this week, the Trail Blazers have settled on their next target: Utah power forward Paul Millsap. Although Millsap is a restricted free agent, meaning the Jazz can match any offer, the Blazers are preparing what one source called a "toxic" offer designed to exterminate interest from other teams. Millsap, 24, is a bruising and active player who excels at rebounding. Despite being only 6-foot-8, Millsap last season used his 250-pound frame to average 13.5 points and 8.6 rebounds in 30.1 minutes per game. His 3.3 offensive rebounds per game ranked fourth in the NBA and his 251 offensive rebounds ranked sixth. If Millsap signs an offer sheet accepting the Blazers' deal, Utah will have seven days to match the offer. The Jazz is already facing the luxury tax next season with a team salary of more than $73 million. Their finances, and prospects of competing with a lucrative offer to Millsap, took a hit last week when Carlos Boozer ($12.6 million), Mehmet Okur ($9 million) and Kyle Korver ($5.1 million) all exercised options to stay in Utah. The Blazers figure to exhaust nearly all of their cap space to lock up Millsap. They are $7.7 million under the cap, but can gain an additional $1.65 million by renouncing the rights to Petteri Koponen and Joel Freeland. However, in the process, the Blazers would be assessed with a roughly $450,000 cap hold for having less than 11 players, thus giving them $8.9 million in cap space. Millsap is from Grambling, La., and attended Louisiana Tech, where he became the only player in NCAA history to lead the nation in rebounding for three consecutive years. He entered the 2006 NBA Draft after his junior season and was a late second-round pick (47th overall), but immediately became a rotation player, earning second-team All-Rookie honors. In his third NBA season last year, Millsap started a career-high 38 games while filling in for the injured Boozer. He had a career-high 32 points at Boston in December and tied his career-high with 17 rebounds in a January game at the Lakers. Sources say Millsap has told the Blazers he would be amicable to playing behind LaMarcus Aldridge, the Blazers' returning power forward and one of the franchise's cornerstones. The Blazers are hoping Millsap provides some interior grit and toughness, two qualities that were lacking in a first-round playoff loss to Houston. The move would appear to most affect Travis Outlaw, who was expected to move into the backup power forward role full-time this season, but there has been no indication whether another move was imminent. On Tuesday, Millsap's agent, DeAngelo Simmons, declined to comment on the Blazers and their interest. Simmons did not return phone messages Wednesday night. If it goes through, I wouldn't be surpsided to see a Joel/Battier deal. Pugs
