Considering the past interest, I would think so. The Fernandez+Outlaw hypotheticals bandied about in the other threads were pipe dreams but something like Pryzbilla+Outlaw or Pryzbilla+Batum+Freeland would make sense. I could possibly see Pryzbilla+Fernandez, but its a stretch, IMHO. Bayless is close to untouchable, I think.
You're probably right but how much value does he have to us now that Ariza is here? I guess it all depends on Morey's plan. Are we rebuilding or are we going to try to re-tool on the fly. If we are re-tooling on the fly and Morey thinks he can still grab an All Star in exchange for Tmac I think adding size is the most important problem and that would tip the scales in making Pryzbilla more valuable than Shane to the Rockets right now. This has been a crazy off season already for sure. All I know is that Battier is on his way out.
I second that! Everyone else seems to be discussing on Battier. I am so tired of reading those posts. Yours just like a star stands out in the dark.
Well it worked.....you got me listening to your station for a while but you're taking to long to get to the Rockets news.
Remember that while he doesn't have value to our team, that fact is irrelevant to his overall trade value. You don't just give him away because you have no need for him. If Portland added Shane Battier and Paul Millsap, they could possibly win the title next year. I disagree. Regardless of what is done with McGrady, I don't think any team 'needs' in the conventional sense are relevant to personnel transactions. We won't be contenders regardless, so the main objective should be stockpiling young talent.
That's exactly what I think. The only problem for a straight up trade is the fact that Blazers might be really dangerous after this trade, and we might go against them again in the playoff.
What is all this talk about Bayless, he is not proven anything since he got into this league, he is basically Greene, putting up big number in the summer league and didnt do anything in the regular season. I dont think giving any of our pgs for Bayless.
I would love to hear Rich Lord's thoughts on this. And by that I mean I wonder if he even knows who Trevor Ariza is.
Agreed, Morey has to try and better the Rockets, without loading the other team as well...Millsap alone easily makes Portland's front line tough, and Battier would just give them more toughness and a defensive stopper. That could push Portland over the top.
The Charlotte Bobcats had the #12 overall pick in this year's draft. That team won 35 games. 3 of those wins came against a depleted Wizards club. With last year's bottom-dwellers (Wizards, Thunder, Clippers) expected to add at least a few more wins next year, the teams in the 6-13 range (draft-wise) will probably lose about 2-3 games fewer next year. If you don't think the current roster (which may possibly also include a healthy McGrady towards the end of the year) is capable of winning 32-35 games in 2009-10, then so be it. I fully expect at least 30+ wins from the Rockets next year. 35 wins is completely doable.
Blazers have cap space of $9.445M if they renounce or trade Koponen & Freeland (via Blazersedge). That isn't enough to absorb both a near MLE level deal for Millsap + Korver/Harpring. Cook + Hayes + Dorsey + White (non-guaranteed) for Przybilla + Fernandez + rights to Koponen & Freeland ...frees up an extra $1.076M of cap space Rockets also have TEs to trade for Batum or Bayless or both. A TE for Batum would push the Blazers cap space to $11.639M. That leaves around $5.1M for a S&T of Millsap if they absorb Harpring's contract. If it's Korver that's an extra $1.2M they can give Millsap.
