And you wonder why I bail out on discussions with you. You would rather argue a minute point just for the sake of arguing than discussing the topic on hand. I could write a 10 page essay, you agree with everything except one offtopic sentence, and you would still rather argue over that than the actual topic.

Youre a far cry from samfisher, but you're certainly heading down his path.

I live in Eastern Canada and it was +8 degrees Celsius this week with pouring rain.

We usually have three feet of snow on the ground this time of year. This holiday season we have nearly no snow at all.

do you still think that snow in west texas is enough to make one 'wonder' about whether or not global warming exists?

I addressed this issue earlier in this thread in the following post:

If you ask me the same question again, I will provide you the same answer again.

You can't handle the truth, can you?

If you have some intelligent comments to offer regarding my previous post, please offer them. However, your comment above clearly cannot be classified in that category.

The vitriolic and hateful remarks that you people so casually post on this board are really something to behold. Do you realize what a window these kinds of comments provide for everyone into your own souls? Apparently not, or you would be ashamed to make these sorts of remarks.

Actually, you didn't. You only contradicted your first post in that. Do snowstorms make you wonder about global warming? If not, what exactly do they make you wonder about?

Events like this snowstorms make me wonder about the credibility of the alarmist messages promoted by AGW alarmists. It also makes me wonder about credibility of the climate prediction models and the reliability of the 'science' that underlies the currently popular AGW alarmism theories. These weather events, combined with the disclosures revealed in the climate-gate scandal raise some serious questions about the trustworthiness of the scientists, and the science, that is used to promote these theories.

I know from past experience posting in this forum that this will be close to impossible for some of you to grasp, but there are a huge number of people who 1) believe that the Earth has warmed, but 2) do not buy into the theories of the AGW alarmists. Only someone who is a 'Kool-aid drinker' on this issue would insist that you have to believe in both of the above, or neither of the above. Of course, that is not the case at all. I readily recognize that the earth has warmed, but I am not impressed at all with the AGW theories promoted and propagandized by the AGW alarmists.

    This is your post...

The first paragraph - a good 29 of the 84 words encompassing your statement - is directly addressing a non-sequitor that you have yet to prove, and runs contrary to everything said within this thread to address Mojoman's idiotic "wonder". You somehow think that ~35% of your entire post (and, it should be noted, that which you decided to write first) is a "minute point"? You're really reaching. Try again.

For the sake of continuing to prove you just plain wrong and incapable of much discussion other than backtracking and red herrings, a further 25 words address another half-truth - that the global warming crowd somehow predicted hurricanes that did not appear. That's a grand total of 54 words out of the 84 you wrote that are, simply put, erroneous and misleading. 64% of your post focuses on "global warming alarmism" statements that have not been said within this thread, or in this forum at all (search away). When called out you referenced two articles about hurricanes - let's take a look.

From your first link, first article (timesonline):

Another case of the anti-global warming crowd being unable to comprehend simple statements and disclaimers, and instead running off with a half-truth to use as a wedge when so-called "predictions" are not 100% accurate.

The second link is not terribly good, as it links to NRDC articles and sites like "fightglobalwarming.com" which are not the most objective... That being said, stating that "pages and pages of articles contributing hurricanes and heat waves to global warming" is both over-aggressive and wrong. From that same second link, national geographic news has this article:

All this now being illuminated - how is my post addressing a "minute point"? If the focus of your little quip was only this one sentence:

One wonders why it was placed in the middle, and makes no sense. I mean seriously, I have no idea what you are trying to say here. You say that the premise is exaggerated, but then imply that others are using heat waves as a sign of impending doom (another implication that this was not a minute point of your post). You then confuse everyone by implying that cold snaps are also being exaggerated as a sign of impending doom.

What was your point in that post Space Ghost? If I have wronged you so fouly by misinterpreting your magnum opus of global warming commentary, please explain to me what part of your post I missed. As it is, all I see at the moment is that you have once again played the part of the guy who, when called out, orchestrates a "pity me" and "divert attention" double play.

I like hearing from you, but when engaged, you have nothing else to offer. If I'm a poor version of Sam, you're the poor version of basso. And, accordingly, you've been owned.

Brrrrrrr! This winter is shaping up to be an unusually cold one. And it is not just happening here in the United States either. This kind of weather is being felt across the Northern Hemisphere around the world.

    From AccuWeather.com:

[RQUOTER]Winter of 2009-2010 Could Be Worst in 25 Years

Nearly the entire eastern half of the United States is enduring bitterly cold temperatures not experienced since 1985. Even Florida, which has been hovering around freezing levels overnight recently, is also feeling the almost-nationwide chill.

"It'll be like the great winters of the '60s and '70s," said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist and Expert Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi.

The last time a large swath of severely low temperatures struck the nation was in January 1985. That historic arctic outbreak had below-zero temperatures Fahrenheit stretching from Chicago eastward to New York City, and all the way south to Macon, Ga.

Seoul, Korea has been covered with the heaviest snowfall they have seen since they began keeping meteorological records in 1937:

[RQUOTER]Seoul Buried in Heaviest Snowfall in 70 Years

SEOUL, South Korea – Seoul residents slogged through the heaviest snowfall in modern Korean history after a winter storm dumped more than 11 inches (28 centimeters) Monday, forcing airports to cancel flights and paralyzing traffic in South Korea's bustling capital.

The snow and icy roads snarled traffic in and out of Seoul, and at least three people died in traffic accidents. Many commuters squeezed into packed subways to get to work, and a Cabinet meeting was delayed because ministers were stuck in traffic.

The snowfall, which continued through Monday afternoon, was the heaviest in a single day since Korea began conducting meteorological surveys in 1937, the state weather agency said.

The UK is experiencing its worst cold spell in 30 years, and may be on the verge of natural gas supply shortages, which is how most people keep their homes warm there:

[RQUOTER]Gas Supplies Running Out As Britain Shivers

SHIVERING Britain faces the prospect of gas supply shortages as the worst cold spell in 30 years keeps a stranglehold on the country.

The National Grid yesterday issued only its *second-ever warning that demand for energy is threatening to outstrip available supplies unless industry quickly slashes its consumption and more gas is rushed in from abroad.

The alert prompted the wholesale cost of gas to rocket by 70 per cent and raised fears that businesses and households could soon be hit by power cuts if the freezing weather persists as forecast for the rest of the month.

    ....[/RQUOTER]
We are seeing extremely cold weather across the Northern Hemisphere of our planet, around the world. Of course if it was extremely hot weather, the AGW Alarmists would be screaming "global warming! global warming!" I will be the first to say that all of this cold weather does not "prove" anything. But it does raise doubts among thinking individuals about the credibility of the alarmist rhetoric being promoted by the proponents of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) theory.

austin did and even if houston didnt break records, you must admit that it was much, much hotter a summer than normal. but the point is that the people you are trying to mock w/ this thread did not cite the record heat as further evidence of global warming like you are trying to do w/ the postings about record low temps. your entire premise is based around a strawman, or snowman if you will and you and everyone else here knows it.
