It's true, insofar as you haven't really ever cited anything ever except for a TV weatherman and a flailing attempt to use the "appeal to authority" argument with respect to the father of GW (nice one...lol).

However, most of the sh-t that you are Simplejacking from FREEPER and other garbage forums (i.e. THE HOCKEY STICK IS D1SPROOFED1!!!!) can be traced back to the GW Denialist and their cottage industry of B-rate academics, most of whom are indirectly supported with grants from various front groups of the energy lobby. Guess where that trail leads.

I could explain it further but since you are an apprentice electrician trainee I fear it would be lost on you.

LOL.. stop using "denialist" it isnt even a word so stop making yourself look like a fool.

And there you go with the name calling again.. I'll take that as a complement. Apprentice electrician is a lot more advanced than you ever will be.

Also a bit off topic if you want to talk about my personal accomplishments let's start.

Let's see i make over six figures and I am at the executive level of a GPS technology company.

I have started my own company from the ground up. I have 6 patents issued and another 5 pending. Was able to raise over 3.8 million in funding. This technology will soon make it into your living room and video game consoles across the world (at least I hope. We are in the final stages of prototyping and only final approval/sign off is required) and I did all this only 5 years out of college.

Now what does this have to do with my knowledge of Global warming. .absolutely nothing.. but you decided to bring up personal attacks and go there again.

The risk you’re talking about here isn’t really that great, however. Nobody’s life is in danger and only a few people, who as investors agreed to take the risk, would be affected. Flooding much of the major coastal cities of the world, otoh, would have an enormous cost in lives as well as dollars, and taking steps to mitigate that risk wouldn’t bankrupt us. I saw a study recently that suggested that based on current technology all coal powered power plants could be fitted with carbon capture and storage technology for a cost that, iirc, would add somewhere around 50% to everyone’s electrical bill. That would hurt some industries, but it’s not going to bankrupt too many people. The government could also decide to spread out that cost by either giving the power companies tax breaks to pay for the modifications, or perhaps by upping the tax rate a bit. It is doable, and the technology is still improving.

Some of it is pretty close to being ready, and a few government funded pilot projects might move things along. That would have to be assessed on a case by case basis, of course. The government is us, after all. We live in democracies. They’re just managers that we hire, and in this case elect, to manage our cities, states/provinces, and countries. We can’t be afraid of governments playing a role. Good corporate managers are proactive after all, and they run trail projects and make investments in future technologies all the time. If countries don’t take advantage of forward thinking decisions and projects that only top management, governments in this case, can make then they aren’t maximizing their potential.

I haven't had time to read the rest of the tread, so I'm not sure what's going on, but I do appreciate your thoughtful responses to my posts.

The rest of the thread is probably not worth reading. It is basically a lot of finger pointing, blaming and name calling and you are a liar, no you are a liar responses. I admit I may have been caught up in that crap on a few of my posts to SamFisher.

However, I am glad you take the time to respond politely and thoughtfully. It allows us to have a valid discussion and you make some valid points I can think over. So even though we disagree on some things in the end you make some very valid points which I can agree too.

LOL that was one funny ass video.. I urge everyone to watch it. It will add some humor to this thread which has gotten ugly at times.

Yes it's comedy and its a satire but why is satire so funny? It's because usually there is some truth behind it. Which is what I was advocating for in the begging. Keep an open mind and don't just listen to one side. You can clearly see how our news likes to exaggerate and slant things towards a certain view. We see it now with the snowstorms and we saw it during the Katraina and el nino months of 98.
    Anyways funny video. .
I recently gained some respect points for Stewart for going on the Oreilly show and he seems to be smart guy with his own thoughts outside of his comedy role.

LOL - do you also drive a Dodge Stratus? I'd like to hear more about your accomplishments. A link to your company's website would be appreciated.

PS Denialists are those who practice denialism. It is indeed a word in both the formal and informal sense.

    See, e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Denialism-Irrational-Thinking-Scientific-Threatens/dp/1594202303

Can you also list your accomplishments in the field of letters and literature? Your prior posts lead me to question your competence in these fields as well.

    Brrrrrrrrrr!!!!

    Record snows in Dallas, Texas:

    [RQUOTER]Thursday's Snowfall Shatters All-Time Record

Large, fluffy snowflakes fell heavily across North Texas Thursday, bringing record snowfall that sailed past the previous all-time one-day record.

A new record of 11.2 inches was set Thursday night at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport -- and flakes were still coming down.

The previous record was 7.8 inches on Jan. 15, 1964, and Jan. 14, 1917.

The total for this winter, so far, is 14.4 inches, the third highest recorded in North Texas history.

Actually the article does have scientific facts.

It is very well known fact that warmer air carries more moisture. This applies to air at all temperatures and is measured by relative humanity. If warm air didn't function like that driest place in the world wouldn't be Antarctica or for that matter hot air dryers wouldn't work any better than just blowing cold air.

Its is also a known fact that lack of ice coverage leads to more evaporation from bodies of water and consequently more precipitation, whether rain or snow.

Finally global warming can lead to both regional cooling and larger snow storms. The climate isn't a steady state homogenous system where effects are uniform so changes in the overall temperature will not cause the same reactions throughout. In regard to the climate of North America and Western Europe in particular much of the climate is controlled by the Atlantic Gyre which circulates warm water up from the Gulf of Mexico (the Gulf Stream) up along the Atlantic seaboard and over to the British Isles. This is one reason why snow is historically rare in Ireland but fog and rain isn't. Salinity partly drives it and as ice sheets melt the ocean overall become less salty with the result that gyre may not work as it normally does leading to much colder and snowier weather in the areas that are currently influenced by it.

I think its too early to say whether the recent storms have anything to do with global warming but it is theoretically possibly the do and makes sense with known scientific facts of what we currently know about climate.

To follow up on Grizzled's post as I said earlier we are talking about probabilities and the probablities show a strong likelyhood of potential negative consequences of global warming. So while there is certainly some big costs associated with addressing it the consequences of it outweigh the costs.

Think of this interms of protecting your house from a fire. Your house might never catch on fire but that doesn't mean you don't invest in putting smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and homeowner's insurance. If you end up moving you could say all of that money went to waste but at the same time if a fire occured the money spent on those things are inconsequential.

Anyway as I continually say even without global warming the efforts to combat it provide benefits on their own that will provide a longterm return on investment.
The best way to combat global warming is by figuring out how to privatize it rather than through government mandated. While cap and trade is a government mandate it is a soft one that encourages the private sector to determine how best to meet those goals. Also a cap and trade program was used to reduce sulfur emissions causing acid rain and has so far proven to be a major success in reducing sulfur emissions without destroying the economy.

It is not "global warming" that I am casting doubt on, but the credibility of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) alarmists, such as yourself.

But as many times as we have been through this, you undoubtedly know that good and well.

Apparently the unusually harsh winter conditions are being felt around the world. Rome has just experienced its heaviest snowfall in the a quarter century.

[RQUOTER]Rare snowfall in Rome as cold snap grips Italy

ROME (Reuters) – Tourists took rare pictures of snow falling on the Colosseum and the Trevi fountain on Friday, and the Pope reportedly appeared at a Vatican window to watch Rome's heaviest snowfall in nearly a quarter century.

In scenes usually only glimpsed in souvenir "snow domes" Italy's capital was blanketed in white, snarling road and air traffic but delighting many Romans who rode scooters with their feet on the ground and snapped pictures with mobile phones.

Rome was last dusted in snow in 2005, but one meteorologist said the steady snowfall through Friday morning was the heaviest seen in the Italian capital in 24 years.

"It's very exciting. I have been taking pictures of my husband in front of the Colosseum because I thought nobody would believe me if I told them it was snowing in Rome today," said Margaret Jones, a tourist from London.

The ancient Roman forum and the Colosseum were later closed for safety reasons.

Heavy rain, snow and strong winds lashed central and southern Italy, prompting the closure of roads in many areas and some schools were shut on the island of Sardinia.

In Rome, Ciampino airport was shut and flights diverted to the bigger Fiumicino airport while the city's normally chaotic traffic slowed to a crawl in many areas.

"It's beautiful but we are not used to it in Rome," said one Rome motorist, Mario Strillandi. "Rain is enough to block traffic in the city -- imagine what it's like with snow."[/RQUOTER]

I do not claim to be a journalist or a writer so why even bring that up? Maybe it's cause you are backed in a corner and you realized how pathetic of a human being you are that you have to belittle others to make yourself feel better.
Also I find it quite ironic how you criticize me on literacy when you are the one who has been making up words that don't exist. Go look it up in a dictionary if you don't believe me. Also this is a message board I am not going to take the time to write a thoughtful essay and proofread everything I type. I don't have the time for that but you may since you are probably an employed leach off the Govt. Anyways you are just a waste of time.

Also I do not have to prove anything to you on here. If you think I made it up that is fine. Doesn't bother me one bit. I am not going to share my personal information on the web with a bunch of strangers and a few idiots like yourself.

uh...because you chose to repeatedly make the allegation that "denialism" is "not a word" and thus chose it to be your Little Big Horn in this thread.

Denialism is indeed a recognized ideological concept both in general and in particular in the GW debate. (P.S. guffawing heartily over here at your attempts to use Mirriam-Webster as the ultimate arbiter of contemprorary vernacular. What is this, 1952? ha ha ha..)

In retrospect, you should have shut up about it, it would have saved you the embarrassment (and me having to skim through your paragraph-murdering rejoinder about it.....ugh... )

Actually you have, and you do. Your credibility is on the line here, my friend.

You already gave us a fair amount to go on, virtually unprompted. If I have time over the long weekend I will devote some time to testing your CV's veracity. I look forward to discussing the results with you. Think of it as a scientific experiment of sorts.

LOL.. whatever I know it just makes you furious that I am successful and you are probably some loser with no job getting a govt check every month to support you lazy ass.
It is you who is focusing on a word and just resorting to personal attacks and chose not to participate in having a discussion. I have had excellent discussions with some of the other members on here that resort to explaining things rather than just name calling.

Regarding my accomplishments I have no need to partake and you r****ded experiment. When my product launches with Nintendo later this year I will sure to come back and update you then. In the mean time there are certain contractual obligations that prevents me from sharing anymore. If it fails I will also come back and share that with you here. Wait and see around the third quarter.

    Have a nice day.

Calling me an alarmist is laughable. Read my posts in any of the threads. I haven't said much at all except to note where evidence was provided.

AGW or not, the idea that you post anecdotal weather incidents in an effort to prove or disprove anything, and then claim that you aren't doing that, but then post more anecdotal weather incidents and continue to act like it matters in argument of AGW or not is plain silly.

You are like the Republican congressmen who vote against the stimulus and trash it, but then go to where it's working and talk about how great it is.

So let me ask you, does the heavy snowfall in Rome, and The Atlantic US show evidence against AGW or doesn't it? Pick a side and be man enough to either argue or concede your point afterwards. If you can't do that then stop wasting time. You haven't been able to pick a side so far.
