Remaining cap space: Shooting is a much bigger need than "rim protection"

Fvv is a good open 3 point shooter. Brooks is a good shooter from the corners. The key is for Jalen and Jabari to improve and become good shooters, if that never happens then they are busts and it doesn’t matter who we add.

Also the Kings showed that you don’t need rim protection to win in the regular season. I believe you still do in order to win a championship, but since there is 0% chance at a championship next season no matter who we add, it is really a moot point. Eventually we will need to add a rim protector next to Sengun or replace Sengun if he isn’t who we think he is. But for now all we want is to turn the ship around from a joke of a franchise to a more competitive team, which as the kings showed you don’t necessarily need rim protection to accomplish.

If Lob Threat and rim protection were in the dictionary there would be a picture of Jokic's backup center there.

He's literally the poster boy for that role.

Look, if Jalen and Jabari can't significantly improve as shooters then we are screwed no matter who we sign. These were the 2nd and 3rd picks of their respective drafts. If they can't improve then you're back to square one. There's no need to sign or trade for a better shooter.

These last 3 years were about tanking for young players. These next 2 years will be about developing those young players. We don't need Grant Williams to come here and steal minutes from our young core just so we can win an extra 5 games.

FVV and Brooks won't look as good defensively not having a good defensive anchor. Hopefully Ime gets Sengun to be average.

The Rockets need rim protection. Sengun is smaller than half of the forwards in the NBA, how is he supposed to bang with Jokic or make weak side rotation blocks? Maybe the Rockets have been bad for so long you forgot what defense looks like.
Don’t be a Daryl Morey hipster starting PJ Tucker at center, get some real size.

Jokic likely fell victim to a “trap game” against the worst team in the conference. It’s disrespectful to Jokic to suggest Sengun can actually hang with him.

as long as third-year jalen still like a race car ain't got brake, n second-year bari still like a truck ain't got turbo…then develop them into pure shooters.

Man we not contending next season so stop trying to fix ALL of our holes this summer. Understand the plan, understand the process we are in right now. Can we see what we have first under the new coach? Can we see some development from our young core first before we KNOW what we need to become a contending team?

Why you keep putting rim protection in quotes?

If two of these are near elite, you could slack a little on hoop protection.

    Pick and Roll D
    Transition D
    Perimeter D
    One on One D
    Zone D and Switch D

No Drop coverages if you must.

One step at a time. We can fix everything in one off-season.

He’s acting like players like Brook Lopez, Timelord, Anthony Davis, Mitchell Robinson, etc. are myths and don’t exist, to try and justify his Sengun fanboy status.

Sengun’s weaknesses are clearly size & explosiveness. He also shows up to games on a hoverboard during a 10+ game losing streak, but OP will never acknowledge these shortcomings because he’s extremely biased.

That’s baloney….we’ve been tanking for all these years for $&@“ Dillon Brooks and Jock Landale. This team is a disaster and an embarrassment to the city of Houston. Had hopes this was the off season to fix things and instead we GIVE AWAY all our promising youth for 37 year old Jeff Green and others. Enjoy watching KMJ monster dunk over these losers.

We need a versatile rim protector in a big way. But, I assume it's coMiNG.

You're sleeping on Dillon Brooks shooting 38% on catch and shoot threes. KPjr can bust it. Jabari will eventually be known as one of the best shooters in the League. Yeah, we could use another shooter, but those are easier to come by.

so here’s the thing. Both KPJ and FVV are good catch and shoot shooters. If that;s our starting backcourt and they create for each other, we’re probably in good shape there.

Dillon is not worse than P.J. Tuck from the corners, so that’s probably pretty decent for that SF spot, given the defensive disruption the guy provides.

Jabari will eventually get his shooting % up, he’s got good mechanics. People overestimated his shooting prior to his draft based on a small sample freshman year, but they are now underestimating it based on a bad rookie year in a trash organization.

Sengun is working on it, hopefully gets to some average percentage….

    It’s not so bad, actually.

No we tanked for all these years for $&@“ Green, Sengun, Jabari, Amen, Tari, Whitmore.

We didn’t GIVE AWAY all our promising youth, we gave away Josh Christopher, Tyty, garuba and kj. Fringe players that couldn’t even get playing time on a 20 win team.
