We weren't offended(It actually made my mom happy because she wanted my wife to get the plant sh was sending and if we had taken it a pain in the ass member of her family would have wanted it and probably tried to start a fight over it)or anything cause they did not want our flowers I was just curious to know if there was a reason behind it or if it was just the custom.
Wow, congratulations on insulting the Mormons and Catholics in one fell swoop. JV, I know you claim diplomatic immunity because you are an atheist... but this post reads as if you were raised in a closet by Bob Jones the Sr. There are simply liberal and fundamentalist sects of Christianity... I don't think you should judge Catholics or Mormons from the standards of one branch or the other. Your post strikes me w/ the arrogance of a believer... ie, "my mommy raised me on this team... this team is right, the other team is going to hell... aren't I lucky my mommy was soooooo lucky to have been born in the correct church". Which I don't think would describe your intuitions, of course. ps, if you want to discuss this further, maybe we should start a new thread. I would learn a great deal from a pacifist/mainstream Christianity (methodist/episcopalian/catholic) -- fundamentalist Christianity comparison, and I think you're probably one of the few people on the board that could guide such a topic.
