I think humans are too "lazy" to seek answers, because ultimately they innately sense its just replacing Holy Father with "Cyber Nanny". To me none of those are particularly great ultimate "answers". Because the lines of obstruction and providing an answer can be blurred. And its all just people filling their increasingly megalomanic whims instead of having true humility about their creation.
so this would boost the creditbility of a christian god. it is basically the story of adam and eve, its what's seperates us from the other animals. our curiosity to explain what happens in this world, instead of just living to survive.
It does not boost the credibility of a Christian God, because you can make the reverse argument just as easily. Perhaps believing in some type of God led to more tightly bound communities, which were then able to destroy/overpower their neighbors until just about everyone left had this "God-belief gene." In that case, we believe in God not because there is one, but because it was evolutionarily advantageous.

Not exactly. Many sects of Buddhism worship the Buddha(s) as a deity along with Boddhisatvas and other members of the Buddhist pantheon.
depends entirely on the brand of Buddhism. The story of Buddha comes complete with demons and spirits...there are many different flavors of Buddhists who believe in any number of things about the existence of things beyond our physical universe. And most who subscribe to Confucianism still believe in some sense of life beyond the grave, and often pray for help from dead ancestors. edit: crap, judoka already said this. i responded before reading through the thread... on a completely related note, this is still funny. it's never stopped being funny: <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ivULBJnHVNI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
That is totally relevant as that man was actually one of the Demons that Mara sent to distract the Buddha while he meditated under the bodhi tree.
