It's conjecture and we really don't know. And if you consider yourself a Christian you really shouldn't care anyways because the teachings were more important.

    1) Muhammad is glorified by Muslims. He is treated as superhuman. He is especially mentioned in the shahada. He has the power to not just forgive, but to transfer sins on judgment day for no apparent reason. He is said to have travelled to heaven. He is said to have never made a mistake. These are superhuman qualities. This is glorification. MUSLIMS BELIEVE THAT COPYING HIS EVERY ACTION IS THE BEST WAY FOR ANY HUMAN TO ACT. Imagine if I copied every single action by Hitler, from tying shoes to committing a holocaust, would that not be glorifying Hitler? If you can't see that this is glorification, then there is no point discussing it further.

    2) He is simply not the most studied, documented of all men in history. This is pure conjecture. If you have any evidence/proof of this claim, I would love to see it. We know as much about Justin Bieber as we do about Muhammad - how he eats, how he puts on his shoes, what hairstyle he loves, who is a bad neighbor, everything. In fact, we have actual real-time pictures and videos of Bieber, whereas 99% of descriptions of Muhammad were recorded in text hundreds of years after his passing by a man from North Eastern Persia to whom Arabic was a second language and who found on his story-seeking journey that a huge proportion of the stories told to him were lies.

    3) First of all, not all Arabs are brown, check your facts. Secondly, as I said, Arabs considered white skin to be beautiful, and still do to this day. Muhammad was a member of Quraysh and, like them, he was probably brown. In addition, the amount of time he spent in the sun based on the stories you refer to indicates that he would be more tanned that the cast of Jersey Shore.

I don't even know where to start about your "white American" comment and its ominous tone, so I will just forget it.

TheShooter's post notwithstanding, this thread does have a strange vibe.

I'm pretty sure Jesus today would be randomly cavity searched two times over by the TSA on every visit to his local airport.

    But why two twice?

Because he turns the other cheek.

If you were to get an actor play Jesus most likely Alexander Siddig, Dr. Bashir from DS9, probably looks most like what historical Jesus did.

Historical Siddartha Buddha probably also looked similar.

Historical Moses, when he was still a Prince of Egypt, probably looked a lot like Kevin Martin.

You ask, "Who cares what Jesus looked like?"

Well, it's true in the Baha'i and Muslim faiths that there are no pictures of their prophets, it's "verboten", so to speak.

But it does interest me about Christianity in the sense that the popularized Jesus is that traditionally beautiful brown-haired blue-eyed toothpaste-commercial Jesus. Much like the recent Jesus of "The Bible" on the History Channel.

Sure, no one knows what He looked like (can't help but put the capital "H" there), but I think it's fairly safe to say he wasn't Mr. Toothpaste Commercial, but to say he was "black" probably doesn't wash either. In trying to move Jesus away from the traditionalist viewpoint, maybe African Americans are reflecting their own image on him.

Let's face it. If Jesus came back now, looking as he did then, he'd get hassled at the airport.

Passenger: "Look, that could be a terrorist."

Jesus: (overhearing) "No, my name is Jesus Christ. Yes, the Jesus. No, no autographs right now, please." (goes back to reading the Chronicle)

    passenger gets security

Security #1: "OK, let's see some ID."

    Jesus hands over passport

    Security #1: "Hold up. 'Christ, Jesus H.'? D.O.B., 25 December zero-zero-zero-zero?"

Jesus: "Technically, it was probably zero-zero-zero-two A.D."

Security #1: "And where are you flying today?"

Jesus: "Mexico. They love me down there. Is there a problem?"

Security #1: "Come with me, please."

Jesus: "Have I done anything wrong?"

Security #1: "No, no, I just got some water I want you to turn into wine. UPPSY-daisey, there we go."

Security #2: "Are you REALLY Jesus? I'm so sorry for all this."

Jesus: "What, are you kidding? This is NOTHING. Compared to the Romans and the Sanhedrin? This is NOTHING."

Hold on a sec my friends. I believe I was created in God's image. Christ is God, the Trinity. Therefore, God (and Jesus) are white because I am white. And it goes without saying that the Holy Ghost is white. Do you really think a ghost could be swarthy? No way. White ghost = white God = white Jesus = white Trinity. Also, because I am an American, it just stands to reason that Jesus is an American. Why can't you all see the truth? White Jesus for America!

I thought that was an interesting video (I doubt you'll watch all of it). It does back up pretty much everything I said in post 27. Also note that I didn't watch this until after post 27 (I just got done watching it) and I don't necessarily agree with everything in it. Like I said though, many of the points back up what I said here:

So were the inhabitants of Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and Egypt as well as the non-Hebrew peoples of Palestine and the fertile crescent concurrent with the Hebrews black also?

Hmm, that's very interesting. I'd be curious to know whether all of those Ethiopians were mostly homogeneously black or mixed with Caucasians they're clustered in with. The typical Ethiopian has always struck me as being black so that strikes me as odd.

It could be a case where they mixed in later on. I'm pretty sure that the majority of all African Americans that are mixed with whites in this country also fall into other DNA groups. Really though, I'd have to know more about genetics to come up with a god answer so good argument.
