with apologies to Lord Tennyson "Release the Kraken" After the Thunders did lose to the Jazz; Far far away on the Rockets bench, While the fans, ClutchFans, persistently razz The Kraken sitteth: faintest insults’ stench About his bench-ridden ass; above him hang Jumbotrons of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a spacious seat the Rowdies gang Undaunted and enormous dance cams leap Cheering with waving arms the resting has-been. There hath he sat for ages, with his loot, Fattening upon huge payroll in his keep, Until the latter fire shall heat him deep; Then once by man and clutchfans to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and from past the arc shoot.
I was being overemotional. I want him to succeed, I just have no faith in him and it kills me that he’s been so useless so far. He should be better than he’s been, he should be having an impact, but instead he’s been riding pine.
Yeah my rant wasn’t necessarily directed towards you, I just happened to quote you about my belief in Ryan getting nenes minutes and then went on a separate rant. We are emotional. We are all disappointed in Ryan’s lack of success. But we should all be rooting for him because when he is hot from deep and shooting with confidence we look absolutely amazing as a team.
Dudes, Anderson is used to space the entire floor cause he hits those deep threes. It ain’t just the points... they gotta guard his butt damn near half court. He just so damn far out sometimes though.
I feel like Ryan would be perfect for Spain pick and roll. Where we run a shooter from the weak side, then screen the ball screener's man on pick and roll, then have the shooter go opposite of the flow/ p&r to the top of the key. This would get him a ton of separate that he needs.
Not just the Spain but the simple 1-4 high pnr as well. Teams like to double harden off that set because there isn’t a rolling threat. That’s where Ryan makes his bread off of James behind he back passes. He will have wide open above the break 3s if given the opportunity and he’s gonna HAVE to shoot them with confidence. The reason this is of note, is because with Ryan in the game that is who they will initially hide curry on defensively. It makes the most sense because he isn’t a threat to do anything besides shoot. We will be looking to attack curry so that 1-4 pnr will be what we want, but they will double to protect curry. This is likely the same with tucker and ariza who ever is playing the 4 and being guarded by curry. They will have to force gsw to not double. Thus, allowing harden/cp3 to take curry 1v1 in isolation.
For real though, Ryan Anderson will be put on the floor whenever they bring David West on the court. The Warriors bench goons are some combo of Looney and West, Livingston, Swaggy and one of the big 3(often Klay). To neutralize this, i really expect Ryan to play a much more significant role this series. We actually could really use his presence for floor spacing, bc when he is on...the Rockets are a very hard team to guard. So bring on the Kraken...
You guys are laughing but honestly if Ego, Green, and Anderson aren't lighting it up from 3 there is no way we are beating the Warriors... period. L
I'm not 1,000% sold on the Ryan Anderson almost no playing time strategy - injury notwithstanding. But I'm much further past it than many on here. It's easy to look at his solid shooting games, and stretch the court ability, and say, "dang, we need that and and more threes from role players otherwise we're screwed in this series". It's way less easy to see how he sucks defensively, and bar none the biggest difference in this team is defense. I mean, I SO SO SO wish Tucker could have more range and consistency on his three. But there's a reason they've stuck with Tucker as the starter. He can hit his threes, and he's basically our Draymond, even though nowhere near as good. So Ryan off the bench instead of Nene? Ok... sure... but I'm not expecting much and don't think the team is screwed without him. He could play 0 minutes this series and the Rockets could win, or lose, still. Perhaps that's one of the biggest revelations of the season, for the fans and for Morey. It seemed last year that Anderson was so so key to the new Harden led, MDA offense, that spread the floor. I think the reality is that sure, you need a PF that can hit some threes, but given Ryan's limitations, which we all knew, you can just as easily plug in Ariza, Mbah Moute, Tucker into that spot. They don't shoot as well as Anderson but still have to be respected by the defense, and are better defensively. All that said... Ryan plays well against GSW... so what the f do I know?
