i didnt say anything about the bush administration. 9/11 is a topic thats been beaten to death in the d&d for years and years and its pointless to debate about it. especially considering some of the comments on here. if i told a poster "go f*** yourself" i would probably have my account suspended. but i guess its ok to tell it to 30% of your fellow posters. speaking of that 30%, this is pretty much inline w/ all major polling ive seen over the years. consistently, you see 30% of americans believing the government was involved. thats pretty remarkable and hardly constitutes a 'fringe' line of thought (100 million americans). furthermore, if you ask if the government is covering up or lying about 9/11 than it jumps up to like 70%.

as for the part i bolded, i would dispute that claim. but again, with some of the attitudes im seeing i really see no point in getting into specifics.

i hear all the time that the government wouldnt ever think of committing terrorism on its own people, so my point was to show that the government would and has indeed thought of doing such things. fortunately we had the civilian leadership in place who squashed it (we will save the part about jfk getting his head blown off a year later for another thread ;) ). but if you had people like cheney and rumsfeld in there i would wager that this plan would have been carried out.

so, do you have an opinion on the articles i posted, my friend? were you already aware of operation northwoods? imo, a government which is capable of that is capable of some pretty evil stuff.

also, im not sure why this wasnt immediately transferred to the d&d - dont suspend me for posting in here please! :)

actually, many of the victims family members are some of the most vocal as far as believing the government was involved.

its alex jones, so take it for what it is, but he interviewed bill doyle, who heads a group called coalition of 9/11 families - this guy lost his son and believes the government was responsible. i really dont care to get into an argument over the content and specifics of his claims, i just want to point out the fallacy of saying that believing the government is responsible is disrespectful to the victims. this guy lost his son and heads the largest victims family group (at least in 2006) and believes the government was involved.

if alex jones isnt to your liking, first i understand, and two, here is another article. again, i dont care to get into the specifics - just want to point out that many of the victims families are the most vocal 'truthers'.

I think wearing a "911 was an inside job" shirt is helpful... It is like a screaming klaxon proclaiming "I am an idiot". Time saver. Similarly, biblical pronouncements saying the Earth is 6000 years old or something to that effect, tells me all I need to know.

    Alex Jones is a nut.

If you're a family that suffered a 911 loss, you're maybe wanting to put some accountability SOMEwhere, even your own government. Even on an unpopular president who technically didnt win the popular vote, letting that resentment carry over.

Please bring specifics to the table. I think you can debate this much better than ToyCen so I would like to see the tangible evidence. I used to be a big conspiracy guy and I was on the inside job bandwagon years ago. I watched the Loose Change videos and went through every reputable site but there were always holes, big holes, that their theories could not fill. Then when I went to the other sides evidence it clearly and intelligently disputes the claims of conspirators.

The articles speak about something in the 1960's. Of course our government could have done it but with an incredible world changing claim you need to bring more to the table than just to say the government could have done it based on something in the 1960's.

Lets keep this in the Hangout as long as possible.

Really, there was a Rolling Stones article that had a sentence that summed up this idiocy:

"Richard Nixon was a hundred times smarter than Bush, and he couldn't prevent leaks and cries of anguished pseudo-conscience from sprouting among a dozen intimately involved conspirators -- but under the 9/11 conspiracy theory, even the lowest FBI agent used to seal off the crime scene never squeaks. It's absurd."

Now if you told me Stockton or Pippen did 9/11, I'd believe you instantly.

    Not at all.

The Saudi and Taliban message and oppression to their people contributes mightily to misguided hatred.

People around the world are the same, I believe basically good, but when all anyone is taught from the youth on up that they are hated, or their culture is under attack, they don't know any better.

That's the sad truth of the matter, much like slavery in many, many cultures around the world, the resistance to civil rights, and discrimination against gays.

Fortunately, a lot of this has changed or is changing. Here, at least. Can't say the same for much of the Middle East.

I said relaxed because I don't want all the idiots coming in here saying you're dumb if you don't think one way.

I do, and 2 others according to the poll results. I find it funny that everyone knows the name of the person who had nothing to do with it, but no one knows the name of the person who had everything to do with it.

IN what world do you think subject matter like this is NOT fodder for the D&D?

It is subjects like this that led to the formation of D&D in the first place.
