I also want to point out that just because your child goes to Church does not mean he will follow that religion when he grows up. Look at your own experience. It's really a moot point IMO. Just get married and stop living in sin =P

    I'm a long-time listener, first time caller...

Well, this happens a lot and I think in the end it's your new families decision, not your parents...However, you and your soon to be wife need to be on the same page and not waiver, especially in front of the parents...

This needs to be decided b/f intercourse commences...

if you're "Catholic", why not pray to god? or is the pope in charge these days?

The OP is not Catholic, his wife is. He's te one asking us for advice, not her, however, I'm sure he'll take your insightful comment to heart.

I'd say it depends on how serious her Catholicism is. If she is socially Catholic, get married and don't sweat it. If she's religiously Catholic, thinks you're probably going to hell, then maybe it isn't such a good idea. My wife is a born-again Christian (Presbyterian) and I'm more or less an atheist. She thinks I'm likely going to hell. The relationship is working fine, but it's a downer to think your husband and the father of your children is going to hell. If we were smarter when we started the relationship, maybe we'd never have gotten started because of that. As for the kids, they'll be raised in the church, but it'll be a tough balance for me to teach them about a God I don't believe in.

It's what matters between you and her. As long as you both know what you want, nothing else matters.
