I always respect comedians doing roles that unexpected for him to do. Punch Drunk Love was awesome. He does show his drama side in his comedic movies like in Big Daddy and Click in which shows his potential. Adam Sandler is one of my fav. actors and pretty much own every movie he's done, other than "Going Overboard", I wouldnt own that if you paid me. anyways, this does look like a fantastic film. Speaking of Stranger than Fiction, I would STRONGLY recommend that movie, Farrell is still funny in the movie, but a bit of a role change for him.
Ditto. Great flick. People on this board rip on it without even seeing it because they "aren't ready."
Never fear. Sandler quits trying again soon. Plot Outline: Two straight, single Philadelphia firefighters (Sandler, James) pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits.
I agree with you on both counts. Punch Drunk Love is an excellent movie by an excellent filmmaker who brought out the the best in Sandler. I kind of like happy gilmore from his standard comedies but in all honesty I can't stand Sandler, never have even back on SNL. This movie does look fairly intresting and I'll probably check it out.
WHy do you guys say it's about 9/11 all i heard in the trailer was that his family died in a plane crash. Nothing about 9/11. Am i missing something?
I'm actually looking forward to this. Kevin James is one of my favorite comedians. I love King of Queens. Though, I didn't find his performance in Hitch that great, so I don't know how good he is in movies.
In the trailers, it mentioned he lost his family in 9/11 The movie focuses on his trauma dealing with that
I remember that as well, the trailer I saw in theatre said plane crash but the TV spots say 9-11 Kind of odd
Yeah cause that trailer has them saying in a plane crash.. On a side note i got a bunch of pre screening passes for the movie here at the bar...
I will look at them tomorrow when i am at work. If they haven't been expired then i will offer them to anyone that wants them.
Saw this movie tonight... Spoiler ...very very emotional. Adam Sandler has always been one of my favorite actors (he makes me laugh, what can I say ) but this movie was truly something special for him. I knew he could play the dramatic role somewhat after seeing Click, but I was thoroughly unprepared for the performance I saw tonight. Maybe it was just a shock to see Sandler like this, but it blew me away. He delivers a monologue about halfway into the movie that is one of the best I've seen on film. Cheadle was great too, as always. I really, really recommend this film. Just be sure you are ready to handle this emotional piece of work.
I now really really want to see this but unfortunately it doesn't release here where I live so hopefully people here come up with a good quality version of it on VCD. (or someone puts up a torrent)
loved punch drunk love and sandler's performance in it saw it with some people who thought it was stupid, they are no longer my friends
wow thats all I could say, I knew it was going to be good, but this is one of the best movies I've seen this year. I loved Adam Sandler's work ever since Happy Gilmore and ever since his few dramatic scenes in Big Daddy, I knew he would make it as a dramatic actor. This is a drama movie but has a great balance of comedy mixed in, some of it even Sandler type humor. Don Cheadle had a terrific performance, and Liv Tyler, dear god, I still love her ever since I saw her in them Aerosmith videos and Empire Records Spoiler btw, who else on here wanted to run up to the screen and beat that lawyer's ass for putting Sandler's family pic in front of him while he had his breakdown??? that **** was just downright wrong.
