Reminds me of a guy I met in Disney World one time. In Animal Kingdom there is a Lion King show put on. There is an elderly man in a wheelchair that is at Animal Kingdom as soon as it opens and strolls around the park until it is time for the show. I was told by the employees that he does this every day. All of the employees know and love him and whenever they see him they give him free disney stuff, like collector's pins. He goes around looking for little kids to give some of his pins and such to give away to.
When I worked at Starbucks for a summer about...damn, 7 years ago.. people came in daily. Some people 3x/day. So you'd see them walk in and get their drink ready. All it took was a nod or a smile and they'd know you already got their order. Interesting people dropping $15-$20 a day on coffee. As for me...I seem to hit Chick fil A twice a week now. That'll change if I don't work near one. It's about the only thing I can say I'm a real regular to...and it's about the only fast food I eat anymore (thank goodness). Somehow I never get tired of it. (I do vary my order often enough) Though I must say, it tastes different and better when I come home and get something at a Houston Chick Fil A.
While I try new places a lot, i also have regularly been to the same group of maybe 20-25 bars & restos w/my friends for the last few years so as a consquence I know a bunch of bartenders by name. While it seems cool at first to be a man about town, to strangers (particularly females that you are courting) it can also make you seem like a drunk if you are over 30 when you go to a place "were everybody knows your name...", particularly if there's more than one.
"They stand there and... they stare at the menu... then they look at the menu to the left... [imitates customer thinking] 'uhhh... what do i want... what do i want...?' THE MENU ON THE RIGHT IS THE SAME AS THE MENU ON THE LEFT, AND IT'S BEEN THE SAME MENU FOR TEN FREAKIN' YEARS!!!! ORDER SOMETHING!!!!!" Ha ha... I used to know that whole bit by memory... "You know guys won't get away with the same thing. Asking the girl behind the counter: 'Hey, girl... what's your name?' [She's stirring the fries] 'Tsk... LaShawnda...' but if a guy's behind the counter and he asks a girl customer what her name is, she's all 'Pshhhhh... ' [pretends to turn around] "
I would let my daughters DANCE, but I would NEVER let my daughters SIN. NEVER. did I read that right, or did you mean "signing" to deaf peeps?
When I was still teaching, my friends and I would go out to the same few bars after work on most Fridays. At one of them, the same bartender was always there and quickly learned our names. That dude was a great bartender and always gave us incredible discounts, which we rewarded with incredible tips. Anyway, what really amazed me about this guy is that even if I had not been in there for over a month, he still remembered my name and what I had been drinking last. And this was a very busy bar. I couldn't do that in a million years.
Back in my consulting days, I'd get off work late & be generally exhausted, hungry & needing a drink. There was a great little cafe/bar by my place, so I'd stop there a 2-3 times a week for dinner, drinks & b.s. with random people.. After a few months of this, I'm in Lefty's Pub at an Astros game, and pass by one of the cafe's waiters. He looks at me smiles & says: "Double Makers, spash of coke, right?" I realized then that I needed to find a new bar for awhile.
Regular Customers help you keep your job, so shut you mouth!! I goto McDonalds every week after I go grocery shopping and the same lady is always working the drive thru. I like her, so I call and tell McDonalds that she's awesome, i'm not even kidding. Reg. Customers can help you out! She's an old lady named Ema @ the McDonlads near 45 & 1960 <3
Me and 3 friends bought a 20-game package the last year the Astros played in the Dome. The first game, we tipped the beer lady right by our seats pretty well. So for the next 19 games, she would let us pay full price for the first beer – then a dollar for each refill after that for the rest of the night. I think they got paid by how many cups they moved, so as long as we still had our cups, she would just refill them and pocket the dollar each time. Good times…..
Occasionally we find a Rockets beer guy that does this. I think it's technically "stealing," but oh well.
I'm becoming a regular at happy hour at the Saltgrass in san marcos. I just can't resist those $1.50 blue moons! They know me by name, but I told him I'd rather have him call me 'champ'. It's worked out pretty well so far.
I think most people are not getting the point of the thread. He's not asking whether you go to a place reguarly, but whether you go to the SAME location everyday and order the SAME meal every time. I mean, I'm a regular at some restaurants, and at times I would order the same dish for 3-4 days straight. But I can't imagine eating the same thing everyday for even a week. Breakfast is the meal I care least about. And even then I can't eat the same things for more than a few days.
