We needed a Butler not because we're lacking talent but bc we have an aging CP who we're locked into for the next few years...needed a somewhat younger dude to be in the mix down the line alongside Harden in case CP gets washed up soon which is a strong possibility due to his age
lulz. if only Sam Hinkie was still there. Morey should still do it, just for the lulz immediately. just can't be packaged with other players. but, I just read the newsletter, and apparently Butler still isn't our "primary target." Covington and Sarik are. But we'll take Butler if convenient.
regroup? for what? the rest of the season is gonna be like watching paint dry. This thing aint getting turned around. I'm just trying to figure out how Morey can put our cap future back in the bottle. That CP3 deal look dumb as F right now. Win now? more like rebuild.
don’t worry man, the tank talk on here is stupid...it’s not even worth thinking about we have Harden and CP3 locked up long term with multiple other vets on this team...there won’t be any tanking going down here...the notion is just ridiculous
Curse my cell phone and it's horrible auto typing. Too late to edit. I was basically saying do what Boston is doing. Ride out the gsw storm and prep for when it ends lol.
Give me Aaron Gordon and Jonathon Simmons. Bet ORL says yes to 3 or 4 first rounders plus Knight & Chriss.
4 picks??? He is soft! I wouldn't trust him in the playoffs but will get his numbers nicely in the regular season.
Yep, continue to give Hartenstein and Gary Clark experience. Rockets are in deep do-do right now. Rockets didn’t lose their 5th game until Dec 20th last season, I believe. Not that Ariza would help....he has looked on the decline for years and Luc is already going thru some injuries with the Clippers. Look closer to Cleveland than Golden State level.
There might he more truth in this thread than there was in the 400+ page Butler thread. Vintage CF thread. 5 star
If Morey is serious about using future assets to gamble on the Harden/Paul window then he should: Trade Chriss/Qi/2021 1st for Korver Trade Gordon/Knight/Nene/2019 and 2023 1st for Kemba Walker and Batum Cleveland would love nothing better than getting a 1st back for Korver since they gave up the same to get him years ago. This move also saves them from the partially guaranteed year that Korver has next season. Charlotte gets 2 1sts for a player that might leave next summer. But the kicker here is that they'll get out of Batum's deal. Both Gordon and Knight comes off the books after next year and could be potentially used as an expiring contract bait for a trade next season. We would essentially mortgage 3 1st Rounders, dump some deadweights, say our goodbyes to Gordon for Korver, Batum and Walker, with the expectation that he's re-signed to play sidekick 1a to Harden after CP3's decline
There are some players who could help out there but no one wants to deal with Morey. His success and reputation with the media has opposing GMs avoiding him. Only chance is dealing with Duke tankers like CLE, PHX, ATL, WAS and it helps that most of them are in the EAST. Those teams do have some players and contracts that could make things interesting so Morey's got to pull the trigger or join the tank for this season because we're no where near competing for a championship right now.
