I kind of doubt he'd fit better with Adelman and his ball-movement oriented offense than he does with GS or LAC. The kind of frustration that Jamal Crawford currently expereinces is what I think he'd bring to the Rockets. He is a ball-stopper and I don't think we need more of those, at least not for $50 million.
Nope, but I would trade Artest + Luther for him. Maggette would fall in line with Battier on the team...both Dukies..... Magette is an aggressive attack the basket player, he would tone it down if he was on a team with established players like Yao and Tmac.... I would take him in a heartbeat. DD
I wouldn't put too much credence in Jamal Crawford's viewpoint. He's been a ball stopper himself much of his career. I haven't watched a ton of Warriors games this year. Against the Rockets, he didn't seem to be a ball stopper any more than anyone else on their team. He had a pretty solid game, actually. Looking at his box scores, he seems to just be very inconsistent thus far, which isn't to be unexpected in a new system. I agreed already that he wouldn't be a great fit...though I think the hybrid offense Adelman will eventually settle on (this full motion offense ala the Kings isn't going to work and we've already seen Rick move away from that the last few weeks - anyone notice the 100+ppg 6 of the last 9 games?) would be a good fit for him. anyway, i was just agreeing with baller4life...Maggette is not the worts off-season signing, by far..be it big name signings that are underperforming (Brand, Davis, Ellis), or smaller signings where it doesn't show as much but you still have to scratch your head. Kwame Brown, for example, is still getting $4 million a year. Sasha Vujacic's getting paid $5 million a year to be a 3 point specialist - which I guess is okay, but while 35.6% from three is not bad, getting paid that much to be a 3 point specialist means you are compared to Kapono (shooting over 50% from 3 again), Korver (over 44%), Matt Bonner (over 47%), etc. Maggette probably is Regrette thus far for the Warriors...doesn't make him the worst FA signing, or a bad player.
Artest is way better than Maggette, on defense it's not even close. On offense they are comparable players, and then if we took him we'd have to pay the rest of his salary. That trade is ludicrous.
Maggette is more athletic so when he goes to the hole he doesn't get blocked as much as Artest. Doesn't Maggette get to the free throw line a lot too? I don't know about this year but I know last year a lot of people were saying he gets to the free throw line a lot.
Not really. % of shots blocked this year: Artest: 9%. Maggette: 7% % of shots blocked last year: Artest: 6%. Maggette: 6%. With a bum ankle, Artest has gotten a little more of his shots blocked than Artest so far this year based on a small sample. However, over the past season, the two players were identical in getting blocked.
Nahh. They would both be on the bench for us because we need Battier's 3-pt shooting in the starting line-up. Off the bench, I'd rather have Artest as he can run Adelman's offense when he's the center of it, and he would be the center of it if he came off the bench. He is at his best when he's on the floor with only 1 of our 2 superstars. Which is perfect for us because our starting line-up is basically undefeated and our second unit will be heaps stronger. Maggette isn't worth $10m. If he were making a couple of million below Artest, I'd trade Artest for Maggette and a decent throw in.
What about scoring effeciency? I believe Magette is a lot better at scoring the ball than Ron is.....and we already have Battier for D on the wings. DD
If last night proved anything, it's that one single good defender on the wings isn't quite enough. Maggette's personal scoring efficiency is very high, but it's not entirely clear that his presence elevates his team's scoring efficiency when he's on the floor.
You know, I never really pictured you as a fan of low bball i.q./selfish players with nice stats. Have you really watched a lot of Magette play?
Wrong, Battier was getting torched today..........We need Ron more than any other player...................He is a perfect fit. It is amazing to me that you would even consider Maggete and his contract................
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawaka...s-are-now-4-2-without-maggette-3-13-with-him/ More on Reggrettee: Warrirs 4-2 when Reggrette misses game. Warrirs 3-13 when Reggrette plays. http://www.82games.com/0809/08GSW9.HTM#onoff Warrirs were 7.6 points per 100 possession worse when Reggrette is on the floor. Most of that came from the defensive end.
We need tyo stop stockpiling talents, and more so, stop stockpiling talents that play whenever they want, go for some good guys the way the spurs do, someone like scola but with talent so that him playing well doesnt means 12-10 but more of 20-10. Houston needs to go and find a PG and a SG, cause McGrady doesnt have enough legs to keep playing at the SG spot anymore, if we could get Boris Diaw for Artest and Raja Bell for Battier i would be more than pleased, thou i don´t think that will happen now. Look around the league there are plenty of PG´s out there but it´s hard to use a troblemaker, a blue collar guy and a used to be allstar player as trade bait.
There's saying in the NBA: Once a Clipper, always a Clip... uh... Loser. Sorry, tinman, I did cheer for Sam and Cat when they were there.
I still feel this way...and you could get him for Artest straight up. Anyone else come over to the Magette bandwagon after watching Ron "Not fitting in" Artest? DD
He gets to the line but his bball IQ and shot selection is just as bad as Artest's.....plus that contract.
10 mill a year is not that bad for a guy that scores 20 points a game..... Heck....for that you would get 40 ppg from Tmac... DD
Yeah, but wasn't that the same line of thinking we applied when we acquired Artest in the first place?
