Those memories were erased by the Warrior series. In fact things started to fall apart in the finals against the Heat and he has never been the same since.

about impact though, how can you measure how much impact a player has, think about how dwight changes every teams shots against him, stats are just stats, at the end of the day its about the rings, its really that simple, and a superstar player should be the main reason or part of it (kobe shaq, allen paul kg etc etc) that their team gets a ring or rings

now if were talking about fame, thats a whole different thing, kobe and lebrons nike marketing > the rest

yao's asian following has to be noted... the rest are a lot less famous though right?

so i guess its what are we really talking about?
    who has good stats?
    who makes the biggest impact?
    who is the most famous?

or my favorite, who brings home the rings?

There are 7 superstars in my opinion.

    Kobe Bryant- No explanation needed
    Lebron James- No explanation needed
Carmelo Anthony- Top 3 best scorer in the NBA. Also, probably moves the best without the ball out of every NBA player.
Dwayne Wade- Can take over a game at any time. Carries his team completely.
Kevin Durant- So young yet so amazing. Already a top 2 scorer and still improving.
Chris Paul- CP3 is ridiculous. Great scorer, great passer, great rebounder, great stealer.
Dwight Howard- I know I'll get bashed for this pick but Dwight Howard has proved himself as a superstar in my opinion. He can easily put up 20 a game and he is so strong that he can just get any rebound. Then, he can block shots like its nothing.

    Potential Superstars
Derrick Rose- In a few season, he'll be at the superstar status
Chris Bosh- Very Very Very Very close to the superstar status in my opinion
    Brandon Roy- Great scorer

Wade has made it past the 2nd round without Shaq.

Not bad mikeyharris, but Duncan to me is still really, really good. I wouldn't exclude him.

Melo has definitely raised his game this season so far. His outstanding start and the great start the Nuggets had to the season put him on the MVP map. The times I've watched the Nugs, Melo has played outstanding and clutch.

KD has had some serious late game failures, but recently he's really turned it around. If KD hadn't started the season shooting so poorly, he might be a legit MVP candidate. As it stands now, he must keep up his inhuman production of the last month the rest of the season to be in the mix at the end.

CP3's stats this season are great, but he's taken some games off when I've watched. Just coincidence I guess. Plus, I have an issue with his mental toughness at times and the tone he sets as leader of his team (which has been discussed here before).

Brandon Roy should be ahead of Melo. My oversight.

Gasol is not a superstar, but this doesn't mean Kobe is a superstar.

Are you sure the heat was Wade's team in his rookie year?

I don't think there is really enough evidence to put Roy ahead of Melo.

Melo is statistically a better player although not by much and has made it deeper into the playoffs than Roy has.

Not a big difference, but no reason to put Roy ahead of Melo.

I said he couldn't 'LEAD' his team to pass the 1st round.

E.G., lakers won the title last season. But, it doesn't mean every laker is a superstar.

    My list would be
    -Lebron James
    -Kobe Bryant
    -Dwayne Wade
    -Kevin Durant
    -Tim Duncan
    -Dirk Nowitzki
    -Camelo Anthony

That is as many as I am willing to give that status to, I would mind if you wanted to take someone like Melo off, but he would be next on the list

Mine and plenty of others. And rightfully so.

I don't think there were many people outside of Dallas talking about how Dirk led his team past the Spurs after he received a thrashing in the Warrior series.

The talk was about the mockery of the MVP award.

Dirk has had some great performances in playoffs but he has also pulled some incredible disappearing acts on multiple occasions.

I especially loved Wade's comments about Dirk regarding the Finals.

I'd take out Carmelo and put in CP3. Chris Paul is the only other one aside from the big 3 that changes a team entirely. I'd even place him above Wade.

CP3 is not doing a whole helluva lot this or last season with his team. I'm not even certain Paul is the best pg in the league, Deron Williams is just as good as Paul imo, maybe even better

Are you mad? Yao above Melo, Paul, Dwight, Durant and Rose? Wow. That's ridiculous.

I think CP3 is better than Wade and definitely Melo but that's just me. Hell, I would take Dwight over Melo

Tim Duncan is underrated because he doesn't get as many minutes.

Pretty harsh comments, but Wade is one of the precious few NBA players who can afford to talk smack about Dirk's shortcomings in leading teams. Most others like Melo and CP3 can't say anything until they actually do better or at least match Dirk in leading a team into the Finals.

This is a weird conversation because I'm defending a player I don't like (solely for the sake of discussion).
