Like I need anybody to tell me that. Your NFL knowledge is lacking, its not a slight against your manhood or anything, just pay more attention if you want to sound knowledgeable.
poor argument for Bush. I was all for him coming out of college.. but he's proven time and again that he can't run the ball effectively out of the backfield except as a change of pace back. But he is effective as a WR/RB who runs occassionally, runs reverses, fakes reverses, catches screens and check-downs, and goes deep sometimes. And he's a hell of a return man. But as an every down RB? No.
I don't think anybody is trying to argue that Bush in an every down back. On the same token not many every down backs can do what Bush does with the exception of LT and Westbrook.
Yeah, but I think it makes the Devin Hester comparison at least possible. Hard to imagine Hester not being able to do what Bush does if he was put in that offense and in that role. To throw out the stat that Reggie has the most catches in the last 2 years or whatever it was and to start a thread basically with that.. I guess seems like it's glorifying a stat that doesn't mean a ton in this case. It means he's used a lot definitely. But when a large number of those passes are in the flat or check-downs, it diminishes their value. He always has that breakaway potential.. 8.4 yards per catch 2 years ago, 5.7 last year. Metcalf's #'s in a similar role.. 7.4 7.9 10.1 13.1 etc. For Reggie's sake, I hope he gets a lot better as Metcalf did after years 1 and 2, but I can't really see it happening. And of course your elite WR's have double digit yards per catch. So Reggie's high catch totals just don't mean as much to me if he's not doing other things (like run the ball effectively). The returns definitely help a lot--he hasn't done it in a while, and it's good that he had a breakout in that part of his game
Bush really hasn't proven much other than he can make the occasional hihliht reel play. I wanted the texans to pick bush and was pissed when they didn't. Even so, he was projected to be barry sanders. You know he had the most hype out of anyone. Even mel kiper had him slated for the hall. He has not lived up to the hype.
He does not do "it all". "All" would include running the ball effectively, since he is a RB. This is not to say he isn't a productive player, because he is. But he isn't a do it all back. He is average at best at the most important skillset for his position...running the ball.
In other news, Mario Williams had 4 tackles and 2 sacks yesterday and is a Defensive Player of the Week nominee on ESPN. Oh... and then there's this:
RB has some great athletic ability.....but he can't seem to use it as a RB. SS as running back > RB. BTW, we've also had Mario to cheer for Asian.
Reggie had a hell of a game. Good for him. He's still not as good as Wes Welker as a RB converted to slot receiver. Maurice Jones-Drew is so much better that it's funny.
He is a bad at RB, and he could have won the game, if he doesnt fall down, with nobody around. He is very quick. but he doesnt play well in every-down RB position, maybe he is only a good 3rd down RB, to catch passes, and run when he is not cover. I prefer Mario Williams, Vince Young or Jay Cutler above him.
