You act like he was some kind of touchdown machine or something.

Here are his NFL rankings for touchdowns during his days with the Saints:

    2006 - tied for 16th
    2007 - tied for 47th
    2008 - tied for 25th
    2009 - tied for 31st
    2010 - tied for 163rd (2 touchdowns in 8 games)

He never even led his team in touchdowns. Never even came in 2nd.

I'm glad he's playing well at Miami. After watching Hard Knocks, I've actually learned to like the guy and I'm pulling for him to finally have a breakout year.

You may have convinced me to not hate LeBron James anymore, but you can't convince me that Bush was anything more than average while at New Orleans.

Props to Bush for finally showing signs of hitting his potential. Most players would quit doing that after years of struggling.

Bush is just above average. He rushed for 172 yards against the Raiders, yes the RAIDERS!

Looks like i counted miami tds fromsam last year. 7 more. Whoops. And he wasnt used correctly in new orleans. Hes not a bust like vy hes a damn good running back and hes a good guy. He doesnt deserve the level of hate he receives around here. It does remind me of lebron.

Is 2012 also the year of the bush?

There is a big difference between struggling and not being used as a true rb.

Donkeymagic went from calling bush a bust to saying "1000 yard rushing seasons arent a big deal in todays nfl" lol. No cred after that statement

He appeared to be highly arrogant coming out of college. That tends to happen coming out of a major program or being a big name player (see Young, Vince and Leaf, Ryan).

Good to see he has come along now that people stop kissing his tush, though I'll never forget his Madden commercial after his rookie year where he disparaged the Texans organization for passing on him only to see him start looking like a bust while Mario put together his first of back to back double digit sack years.

just a little fyi for you, typically quotes mean that it's exactly what a person said you klutz

    What I actually said was
And that's a very true statement. Perhaps I was splitting hairs with juicystream about his statement that bush had a "very good" season vs a productive/good season.

whether bush is a bust...eh, as a #2 pick goes, i'd say he's been a bust. Depends what your definition of a bust is I suppose. He's not a ryan leaf kind of bust because he has been serviceable

another proof is the contract they give to either player.

while I dont think Mario is worth his big contract, but at least you can see how a team looks to spend big bucks in a player they believe it will be a great addition.

I dont think reggie bush gets a contract like that.

You know defensive ends make a lot more money than RBs do right? Arian Foster gets $43.5M and Mario Williams gets $100M coming off back-to-back seasons of finishing on IR.

You keep saying this, but it's not close to true. When Deuce went down his second year, they were desperate for him to step in as the feature back, but couldn't get him to put his head down and go between the tackles. He was determined to do that stupid east west dance every time looking for a home run play that wasn't there. Drew Brees even called him out on it.

Eventually, they gave up. Let Stecker and Thomas go between the tackles and put Reggie in space on tosses or as a receiver motioning out of the backfield. They fell over themselves getting him the ball in the red zone.

How was he supposed to be used "correctly"?

Truth is, Reggie finally ditched a lot of his bad habits and learned to be a one cut back in Miami. It's done a world of good for him.

I have to say I was very impressed by Reggie Bush in Miami. I never saw him as a guy that could hurt a team up the middle. I still think Mario was the better pick, but Bush is making a solid effort to be the better player now.

No one hates on him. We are just saying you are wrong that he didn't live up to the hype. He didn't live up to the expectations that rightfully come with a #2 pick. He lives up to the expectations of a back taken in the 2nd round. Not the #2 pick.

You are judging him with the standards of a productive player. Sure he's productive but he was a bust as a #2 overall pick.

And still I'd rather have Arian over Reggie Bush and our stellar all-around defense over just Mario Williams.

Mario picks up 1.5 sacks today. No measure for the openings he gave everyone else by consistently picking up a double team. I don't think we needed to spend the money on Mario considering how good everyone else is but if we still had him... jezz. We could give the 2001 Ravens defense a run for their money.

So much of the DL performance depends on the secondaries ability to cover receivers. No DL can register a sack on a 3 step drop.

Reggie Bush back to proving he's an average/sometimes above average back. Still clear cut, Texans made the right pick.
