Right after that I switched to 790am and some caller asked Pallilo the same question.

I'm wondering if the Chronicle is going to keep a "What's Going on with Vince?" section in Sports after he is drafted by Oakland. Maybe Richard Justice can do regular updates on his progress over the next 12 years.

I sincerely hope that when the draft is over and Bush is picked that the media will stop fawning all over Young. The guy is terrific, but, for God's sake, let it go.

It's ironic considering the fact that NO ONE outside of Houston and Austin seriously thinks Young should be the Texans' pick. In fact, most don't even think he should be the first quarterback taken including the Titans. The guy is a fantastic player, but the VY obsession down here has just gotten stupid.

Why is it stupid? Why are people who want to see a hometown guy (a hometown guy who led a state university to a national championship with one of the best games ever) become the leader of their hometown football team stupid? Especially after getting to the top in another sport with someone who was pretty much a hometown guy leading the way.

I understand why people prefer Bush over Young, most people do. I, for one, am a UT fan that would love to see VY as a Texan, but I'm also giddly six months from seeing Bush in a Texan uniform. Whatever people outside of Austin or Houston think is practically irrelevant. They're not fans of the Texans, why the hell should their opinion matter? Many fans want Young for a variety of reasons, none of which I'd consider calling stupid, which is frankly quite insulting.

wow, I've never seen you make statements when you have no clue what you're talking about.

no one outside of houston are austin thinks vince should go one, that's a stupid comment. just like vince obssession has gotten stupid, so has the the hating. this is an example. I can find numerous articles of people who don't live in houston or austin who thinks vince should be the first pick.

I broke a personal rule and listened to Lance et al yesterday morning -- actually it was because I heard Daryl Morey on the air. Except Lance kept talking over any possible answer or statement Morey might have tried to make. (Mike and Mike's 'Just Shut Up' was down the dial and so appropriate to Lance.)

So, if Bush had been 'interviewed' by the unworthy of major market morning drive Z-boy then Rich might have been worthy of receiving appreciation for his man-loVYe by default.

Compared to uhh I think there are 40 articles saying Bush should be the first pick. (exaggeration/sarcasm)

How in the hell does he keep a job? That dude is terrible. Let Rich be the GM and trade next year's entire draft and get VY

Who cares what other people think. Teams make mistakes all the time in the draft. I'm sure there are a few teams that would not have passed on Roethlisberger, Portis, Polamalu or whoever if given a second chance. The list of players being drafted later than they should is endless. When it is all said and done I think people are going to feel the same about Vince.

Reggie is a great player in his own right but he is a running back. It is the one position on the football field that comes a dime a dozen. Edgerin James, one of the top running backs in the league and likely a HOFer, could not even fetch a 3rd round pick in the open market at the age of 27. Hypothetically speaking, if Tom Brady was on the market and I would be inclined to say that a team would pay at least 2 1st round picks for his services. Quarterbacks are simply more valuable and more important to a teams success than any other single position on the field. They touch the ball on "every" play that is run on offense. I think the Texans would be making a mistake if they passed on a player such as Vince.

    I couldn't agree more.

VY lovers, let your dream go. Your ascent into the reality of Bush has begun.

In an interview on WFAN with Pete Carroll a few days ago, he said that Reggie Bush was complaining about not getting much playing time in the 2nd half of the Rose Bowl. Said he told him "Hell, you kept running to the sideline every time we gave you the ball so I'd figured you must really like it here."

Lord, Granato, McClian, Justice are always all over Young's nuts. Justice is the worst because he won't admit he wants the Texans to draft VY but he has written every kind of article on him.

For real, nobody outside of Houston and Austin says the Texans should draft VY. Everybody has him as the 2nd QB so that doesn't make sense.

Because a lot of the people that like VY are Longhorns...and as you can imagine they are, and rightfully so, very passionate about their school and their alumnis. Be that as it may, they need to get over it because he's not going to be a Texan.

I am quite sure that the Titans still have plenty of room left in their fanbase for VY loyalists. And I bet, even in RaiderNation, they will welcome them with open arms. I wonder if those teams would even be willing to change their colors to burnt orange and white! :D

definitely, justice is really starting to get on my nerves. Everything from his bonds articles, to his VY articles, to his clemens articles. He has increasingly become bias and contradictory.

What is funny about this debate still is the implication that people have to turn away from Vince Young or refrain from talking about Vince Young....OR ELSE!!!!! Or that people have to be turning cartwheels for Reggie Bush OR ELSE?

Or else what? You'll get drummed out of the loyal corps of 5-year long Texans fans? YOu'll get sent to the Texans fan re-education camp? LOL, this is a five year old franchise that has done absolutely zero in terms of winning over its fans on the field except for the first win over Dallas, mostly due to its own mismanagement - and it hasn't even been able to cultivate a "loveable loser" or "also ran" status like the Cubs or Red Sox. It basically has no personality whatsoever.

So it's not surprising that people want a hometown hero (who also happens to be a badass on the field) to give the franchise something to latch on to - where the franchise itself has provided nothing. It's happened in the past with players like Hakeem, Clyde, and to an extent, Ryan, Clemens, and Campbell.

So what if it is unlikely to happen. This isn't the GARM forum, where higher traffic means that wistful "hey let's trade Juwan for KG" threads degrade the quality of the forum in general. This thread is only active in baseball pennant run/playoffs, and around NFL draft time and the occasional fall sunday. I just don't understand the angst about even discussing it.

This is exactly what I'm referring too. The hidden message is "Get off the Texans bandwagon weak hearted fan!" LOL, you just got ON the Texans bandwagon 5 years ago, along with everyone else. Why do people need to pull "super-fan" rank here? I mean with the Rockets it's one thing since we grew up with the team, but the Texans? come on.

Whats makes it so bad about Justice is he was the main one saying that a Texans win over the 49ers would be the worst win in franchise history because they won't have a chance to get Bush and then after the Rose Bowl he hops on VY's jock. That guy changes more than the weather.

...and he's about as accurate as weather forecasting--in the '50s.
