Not everyone that was pissed at the Mario pick wanted Bush, but I think its natural for guys to jump on the Mario bandwagon because he's been improving every single game and has somewhat proved the haters wrong.
Im one of the ones who bashed the pick and wanted Reggie Bush and the other half wanted VY. Im just sayin it doesnt look right for some people to be all upon Mario since he is finally breaking out and to look at Bush like he is trash since he is struggling.
BUSH I thought maybe he could grow into a Tiki Barber or Warrick Dunn Now. Maybe Rickie Waters , Marshall Fault. .. except more receiving than running than they were QUESTION: I have not watched but . . is it his technique [not hitting the right holes or not hitting them fast enough?] or is it that he lacks the skill WHY IS HE NOT PLAYING WELL? Rocket River
Bush is not putting his head down and running through the holes, period. If there is any type of obstruction in the hole, he automatically tries to cut it outside. That's how you get negative yards. If you just run straight into the hole, you're bound to get a couple yards. Reggie is stopping before the hole and trying to make something happen, he could do this in college, but it won't be there in the NFL. Games like this are the reason why I didn't think Bush's game would translate well in the NFL.
Ahman Green has had a knee problem for a while now. He was listed as probable for the game against Buffalo this past weekend. Yet, despite the nagging injury, he went out and rushed for 122 yards. Moral: Injuries are pretty much a guarantee in the NFL. If you have to be 100% healthy in order to succeed in this league, you probably won't last long.
Yep, 64 million well spent no doubt. You know if the shoe was on the other foot and we had Bush they (ESPN) would be parading us as a dead corpse and organization of idiots. They're so front-line bandwaggoners. Unless it's Roethlisberger, not one of them will stick their neck out for anyone. Blablabla !!! BTW, jgreen91 this just in ... REGGIE BUSH SUCKS! LOL.
I think it was way too early to call Mario a bust when that happened, and I believe the same with Bush. Too much talent there to think he will fade out of the NFL. Could happen, but still not enough to say for sure. With Mario, I think there is obvious improvement but still not anything worth the #1 pick. He will work out well for us, and certainly appears just as if not more effective than Bush would have been. Young has had a rough go of it as well, but of the three, I say he appears to have the most upside at this point. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Using Bush's ankle is purely an excuse...No NFL player goes into a game at 100%, specially RB's. Look around the league and check out the injury reports...everyone has something that hurts. Heck, Kellen Winslow has been listed as Questionable for the last 6 weeks...yet he is still dominating when he is in the game. Bush sucks so hard, he makes Jenna Jameson look like a nun.
1) Bush is not the only player in the league with an injury. Simply check the injury reports and see how many players are questionable each week. Hell, Ahman Green has like one knee and he ran for over 100 yesterday. 2) That tender ankle sure did seem ok on that punt return. 3) Knowing how to run inside helps when you can't get outside. I don't know of any great back that can't run inside. Listen to yourself...."he can't get outside". Duh....folks in this league are fats. RUN INSIDE BIZNITCH!!!!!!
gonna post this in the bush and mario threads.. http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/anal...110506&prov=yhoo&type=lgns&league=fantasy/nfl
Hindsight is 20-20, but I thought Kubiak and the Texans deserved an apology even before Williams started getting sacks and Bush and Young starting doing their Linda Lovelace impersonations. I kept reading Williams being called a project and then I looked at his production in college in the same conference Julius Peppers played in. It's not as if Williams was all combine numbers, or something. He produced every year he was in college and produced to a high level. Every rookie has question marks, but it seemed to me that Williams had no fewer doubts than the other players and certainly had a bigger upside than Bush, or Young, or anybody. He plays at a premium position and it just made more sense for the Texans to take him if they had him rated higher than any other player. Williams may end up disappointing and Bush and Young may make us forget Barry Sanders and John Elway, but there is no way the pick should have been ridiculed like it was.
That dancing may work against fresno state or washington, but this is the National Football League, you're not gonna do that stuff agianst guys like Peppers and Merriman and Urlacher or Ray Lewis. These guys are just as fast and smarter. I thought you could not have had a better fit for the Texans than Vince Young, but with him ouit of the equation, Mario really made way more sense than Bush, considering the needs and structure of the team. It's not like it was some huge reach, if we would have went with Bush #1, Mario was going to be the #2 pick anyway, and we would look stupid right now. And if Domanick Davis was playing this year, we would really look smart. It's gonna take some time for the ESPNs and national media to admit it, but Kubiak really looks brilliant on this one. Anybody decent RB can get the job done, but how many Julius Peppers or Strahans or Freeneys are there. It wasn't sexy but it was the right call.
... and any punt-returner could have found that lane and returned that punt for a TD; it was nothing special. The irony, of course, is that the Saints are resurgent and he's not much a part of it.
