    Please.

If Jackie Robinson steals second successfully and is called out, he's no longer in scoring position, Brooklyn can't score. They lose.

The calls against Yao in general aren't calls made in the NBA every day. It usually doesn't matter if you're straight up as a defender, if you come down with your arms at all and there's contact, it's a foul. Yao is less mobile, and thus less able to get out of the way.

Yao needs to get stronger and more assertive. The refs see Yao lose the ball without contact with a decent amount of regularity; that gets stuck in their mind, and if they don't see blatant contact, they're not going to call it.

Yao should be a statue on defense on the road. Refs cannot call fouls on statues.

Please. His SB% is about 75%, which is very decent . Therefore, I do not think Jackie Robinson was called out when he steal second base regularly.

    ADVANTAGES OF ZONE DEFENSE

    1. It effectively counters the set-pattern offense involving screening and cutting.
    2. It affords maximum protection in the area close to the basket, making short shots difficult.
    3. Fouls are committed less frequently. A switch to a zone defense when a key player has accumulated several fouls is wise in many cases.
    4. It conserves energy.
    5. Fast Break opportunities are more easily obtained from zone formations.
    6. Most zone defenses strengthen rebounding.
    7. It is very effective on the smaller courts so often used by high school teams.
    8. It minimizes fundamental mistakes by a defensive player.
    9. It increases chances for pass interceptions and encourages "ball hawking".
    10. It is relatively easy both to teach and to learn.
    11. The tall, slow player tends to play zone better then man-for-man.
    12. Some opponents tend to have more difficulty attacking a zone than man-for-man.

i dont want yao to change his game just because these refs dont make calls his way. the refs need to be more fair in this game. you know they make way more calls for superstars than the normal players. yao is no longer a rookie and many of these foul are very obvious. something needs to be done.

No one can become a star in the NBA without getting "star" help from the refs.

Jordan became the greatest once he got the call anytime he drove to the basket.

It is much harder for big men to get calls, but once you get the calls you put so much more pressure on the other team. As long as a team can get away with bumping and hacking your guy, he will not be able to put pressure on the defense.

Shaq gets fouled alot but he gets the calls, just can't shoot the free throw.

Once Dream got some calls, he became unstoppable. It just puts so much pressure on the defense when you can get those "star" treatment calls.

If Yao starts to get the calls, defenses will have to play him more honest and he will improve his scoring avg quite a bit.

Plus the Rockets will win more.

This is not an excuse either because Yao has to learn to draw more fouls and to play to different refs. There are subtle ways to get the foul called. Watch TMac, Duncan, Kobe and KG they know how to draw contact.

Anyway, until Yao gets more calls he will continue to find it difficult to shoot or go up for the shot with arms draped all over him.

Fighting referees is a futile proposition. Like I said before, I've seen refs officiate games in Utah so biased that it would make me vomit. The refs in the NBA have a lot of power. They might have as much power as the MLB umpires. It's only in the NFL where the guys don't go nuts when they officiate home and road games. It's not like the refs are just blatantly giving home calls to the Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Chinese government needs to send gift packages to each and every single referee in the NBA. Put in the package an all-expense paid trip to Shanghai. Make sure the referees are well taken care of. A lot of referees have corrupted souls, so it would be best served to fight fire with fire. Corrupt them even more to get them on your side.

I dont know if its a league mandate that the Refs provide some home cooking or not but it does seem like that.

NFL seems to have the best system to argue calls (review calls at the expense of a timeout) would be nice to have in the NBA?

It would put more pressure on the refs to make the right call dont you think?

Even in baseball the officials would have to review certain plays to make sure they got the call right.

In basketball its a different story.. too much is left to interpretation which gives the officials too much power.

I think the refs stink.. and if they called things clean Yao would be a 20/10 guy easy.

Say what you want about the guy but Cuban is a genious when it comes to dealing with the league and officiating.

Always reviewing calls and sending in tapes to the officials with missed calls or bad calls. He does it in a way that doesnt offend the ref but helps them be do better at their job.

We should do that too.. have our commentary guys look at all the bad calls and talk about it more and more bring more attention to it. The coaches and players shouldnt do this since it will cause too much troube for them but our color guys can do it without repercussions. Especially the unfair calls on Yao..

Don't forget, in baseball there also high tech devices that can now help determine whether a pitch is a strike or ball and having those devices there it's like a double edged sword...they can be used if ever needed but there's always a threat that these devices will one day replace the umps, and in a sense I believe that this must keep them somewhat honest. In basketball, the refs have the ultimate flow control of the game. They can break the offensive rhythm on a team with a few consectutive whistles on a team. Sometimes, I wish JVG would purposely have Yao foul out in the 1st quarter. I know it's a bit extreme, but I would really feel that it would point out the stupidity of the refs. Of course, I almost sure that the ref's will all of sudden have dry throats with any plays invovling Yao.

I think the Rockets need to bribe the referees. Do it through a third party.

I have a bit of a question. Why is that we fans can see the refs horrendous calls last nite, but our own houston chronicle sportswriters don't mention it as much as a contributiing factor. Instead it's always seems like its the team's fault yet again. I understand that the Rockets do have a share of responsiblity in the loss, but I have personally never seen such a horrendous 4th quarter ref job in my life and some of our fellow ClutchBBers have commented in a similar fashion. Do these writers not watch the game at all?

Also, on a side note, I've got NBA LP, and of course I was subject to watching the Bobcats commentators, but how did Worrel and Van Chanceller react to this ref job in the 4th? The Bobcats commentators were stressing how wonderful of a defense the Bobcats were doing in the 4th, and I had to laugh...of course you guys have a good defense...you've got six men on the floor.

As you can see on this board, people are happier when Yao is the one getting bashed.

I hoping someday Yao will get the ball and throw them at the ref head. That way they will wake up and give him some respect. Just because a guy is 7'6 doesn't mean he a robot, he get hurt like any other person. Man they call some stupid foul on Yao everytime i watch the game. People jump on him and he just stand there putting his hand up like anyother good defender would do and he get the foul. If it was Ben Wallace they just let it go. I just sick of the ref and sick of there lack respect.
