Why does this give LA an advantage? Anderson's scoring is down 35% in the playoffs from the regular season -- what a loser. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
clutch, that was a brutal post. his season's over. why the hostility towards Anderson? ------------------
"I was sitting in the Upper Deck behind the basket . IMO, Howard was not going for the ball" i watched the game on tv and saw replay after replay up close, he was going for the ball. Flagrant1 would have been the correct foul ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001
I think everyone could agree that it was flagrant. The ejection, however, is in dispute. Regardless, this series is nothing but a warm-up for the Spurs. If it goes more than 5 games, I will be shocked. The ejection actually helped Dallas more than the Spurs. Before that play, SA was cruising. Afterwards, the air was taken out from under them, yet they still managed to crush Dallas. The Mavericks are pretenders, plain and simple. They're not in the same league, ballpark, or sport as the Spurs. The whole point of this thread was to say that the Mavs were robbed. That is laughable. What little chance they had to win the game was actually increased by the hard foul, and even that didn't matter. I find myself laughing right now because I know what people like The Cat would be saying had Howard knocked Francis to the ground and ended his playoff hopes. You'd probably be screaming for everyone on the BBS to write the league a letter demanding the ref be put on the unemployment line for not ejecting Howard quick enough. I agree on TV the play looks completely different, but I still agree with Howard's ejection. Several TV replays show that Howard was going for the ball and became tangled with Anderson. Now, the referees have to make a judgment call based on the situation. Howard made a hard foul. The play was unnecessary with 2 seconds left in the half. Do you think Howard would be safe in the game after that play? I can see someone like Ferry or Kerr - some scrub being used to **** with Howard. As the PA announcer said, a definition of Flagrant 2 is unsportsmen like conduct detrimental to other players. I don't blame Howard for going for the block, but the refs made the right decision during the game. Now its up to the NBA. If they suspend Howard or let him play, I have no problem. The play was unnecessary so I can see Howard getting a 1 game suspension. ------------------
Rickem -- sorry if you were offended, but that was purely a joke -- no hostility towards Anderson and it had nothing to do with the injury. It was in response to the underlying sentiment that Webber isn't worth signing since his playoff stats are below his regular season averages. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
NO!, you're wrong, i dont think the mavs have a chance against the spurs, and im not a fan of theirs either, i was simply saying that Howard may have deserved a Flagrant1 but not a Flagrant2. So where ever you got your "hes making excuses for the mavs loss" thing from put it back where it was. And if Howard had fouled francis the exact same way i doubt i would of thought he deserved an ejection. ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001
The severity of the flagrant foul was overblown because of the vertical of Anderson. If the same hard foul had been placed on, say, Matt Bullard, he wouldn't even have fallen down, because there would be nearly no airtime for his feet to fall out from underneath him. Howard did foul harder than he needed to to prevent the slam, but it was not enough to seriously hurt a player in most situations. He hooks Anderson's arm only slightly, but because it was at the apex of Anderson's jump, he has the entire trip downward to slowly rotate sideway's in a position that is dangerous to land. As athletes get more and more athletic, jumping higher and higher by the day, I think we will see many more of these type of plays, and the refs need to take into consideration how little contact it takes to "flagrantly foul" a player like Howard did when the player is 4 feet off the ground. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
