On the other hand, I have no doubt those guys stand in awe of Sheppard having managed to to translate his role as the first guy off the bench at a storied D1 school into a high-lottery selection. That is inarguably RARE.

Most people on this site aren’t professional basketball players. This isn’t pickup. It’s not intramurals. As I already mentioned many of these players have been McDonald’s All American or NCAA first team etc. The gap isn’t as wide as you think in professional sports especially for Sheppard who simply hasn’t performed great in this league. If he was a decorated all-star or seasoned vet with a consistent role then that’s a different story. But he’s not. There isn’t much difference between him and these guys. In fact they have more in common than differences. They all are hungry vying for a spot and role on this team. Sheppard has done nothing in this league so he’s right there with them.

I said nothing about deferring a check to anyone. The fan I responded to talked about they should “look up” to him not put of merit but out of the fact he makes more money. Which is a pretty shallow and entitled way to look at life. I suppose this discussion is about values and beliefs.

That’s an assumption. People can support someone and not blindly support something that stands against their beliefs. I can support someone and be critical of how fans define his status and relationship with other players, which is entitlement and arrogance.

Lawson's alcohol issues were really unfortunate. Francis had the same problem. We unfortunately had a few guys battling that. Mo Taylor was another. Obviously Eddie Griffin. Too bad. That's a ton of talent that fell victim to the bottle

Reed hasn’t done much in the league…..yet.
But he is far more talented than any player in the summer league roster. That isn’t even debatable

The fact that the Rockets made Reed Sheppard untouchable in trade talks should show what they think about him.... even if some of the more feeble minded among us don't think he's shown anything.

Reed has the ability he just needs to assert himself. The Rockets really need him this year to take the jump.

You’re correct. We don’t know what he will be in this league. Coaches don’t know either. No one does.

I never said he wasn’t talented or less talented. That’s another discussion. All the players are talented especially at this level of professional basketball. At this point it doesn’t really matter if he is talented. What matters is whether this talent translates into performing well in the NBA. This is what the coaches are looking for. We have seen so many talented lottery picks come through in the history of the league and find themselves out the league or barely playing (jahlil okafur, josh jackson, dragen bender).

Some of the most talented players aren’t in the NBA. It’s about whether a player can adapt and integrate into an nba system and perform at a high level. Doesn’t matter if a guy is summa cumm laude Harvard, if he can’t perform as a professional risk analyst at a company then he isn’t right for that organization. I like Reed and hope he does well with this organization

This is very ignorant and has no place here on this site considering I have supported both white players on this team and no evidence. I support all Rockets players. You are injecting race where it should not be. What a stupid comment.

Um, he got playing time & was bad on defense as well as offense. Not sure why you feel Ime was entitled to let Reed continue to suck or that Reed's entitled to play over others. He had to earn it like every other nba rookie

Actually everyone is free to have an opinion or make an assessment on this site. Even you.

I simply expressed my views but got an over emotional crazy response from you yet again. I have told you before I never read your posts and I don’t care what you have to say since I do not respect you yet you continue to respond to mine. We have gone thru this before. In your words you said you do not respect my views. Then simply don’t respond as I don’t respond with all your posts. Same cycle of nonsense. You must like the psychological abuse I give you.

LOL, there's nothing emotional about me pointing out when you say dumb ****.

I'll let you in on a secret my guy, I don't remember who the vast majority of people on this site are from one conversation to the next, especially those who constantly say dumb ****. There's a decent number of people around here I respect, and I'm much more likely to remember who they are from one conversation to the next, but it's just never going to happen for you.

I pretty much lump all of the knuckle draggers together into a single group of fungible morons.

If you threw a temper tantrum in the past, awesome, I probably won't remember it or remember that it was you. You have to realize that you're simply not that important.

I’m not your guy. Please don’t call me that. Weird.

Nah you know exactly who I am and you are on this site everyday. My views have nothing to do with you. The fact that it stirred enough emotion from you to respond and post a personal attack reflects your values and character.

Time and time again I have exposed you for your poor logical reasoning, unsubstantiated information, and lack of knowledge. As someone who constantly posts incorrect information based on your hunches, emotion, and complete ignorance, you are no one to speak about intelligence.

Your words mean nothing to me.

I hate to break it to you, but there's been a lot of morons over the years to get upset that I don't agree with them who throw tantrums about it. You aren't special.

Anyway, you've had enough attention for now, run along.

:D This means you have brain damage for someone who is on this site everyday to not able to remember any other fans on here and especially taking offense to what I say thru the years and calling my posts “dumb”. If you don’t remember anything I post how do you remember they’re dumb and how do you remember to not respect my views. Lol you are Lame and a liar as always

Why doesn't everyone STFU and let the players speak for themselves?

You should direct this response to the other fans in this discussion. Nothing I said spoke for anyone. If you take offense to what I said that's your problem.

Also you have been on this site long enough so you fully understand how this site works. Many if not most posts on here have been opinions on how fans think players should play or conduct themselves and how coaches should coach. A collective of views and opinions whether substantiated or not.

“He’s absurdly talented,” Stone said of the second-year guard out of Kentucky. “His name was being bandied about (in trade hypotheticals) not because of us, but because other teams wanted him. We were not very interested. We definitely want to play this out and give Reed a chance to develop.”
