Reed is ready to replace Josh okogie who has done well but already come back down on earth as far as his shooting and scoring skills.
The coaching staff is responsible for managing player rotation and deciding who gets to play based on level of performance. Players either get playing time or not for a reason. I’m sure these experienced professional coaches who work with these players on a daily basis know and understand their personnel better than anyone here on this fan site. With that said he simply wasn’t good last year. To say he was ready or good doesn’t reflect his actual performance last year and throughout summer league and the first few games this season. It also neglects and disregards the hard work both him and the coaching staff put in to develop and grow him as a player. Players continue to evolve and grow each day. He certainly isn’t the same player he was a year ago. As I said before he makes a lot of mistakes in game partly due to inexperience and youth and hopefully he cleans up some of those things. This doesn’t take away from his growth and what he’s done here in this stretch of games. He’s been great shooting wise and passing better. Let’s enjoy his growth before our eyes and not go back and blame our coaching staff or executives or create narratives that aren’t necessarily true.
Reed Sheppard may be very young, but he's an alpha dog. He isn't afraid and the big stage is not too big for him. Appoint him as the starting pg, along with Amen, if you will. Amen had 15 rebounds last night, so he can also play off ball. They can co-exist together.
your view goes against the Sheppard mob. Be careful they are hunting anyone who dares criticize their perfect little beloved player.
no he hasn’t please don’t exaggerate. He has never been a great offensive player but brings so much more in terms of hustle, saving plays, defense, intensity and timely threes.
his game is nothing like McConnell’s. His offense is better. He is more like CJ Mcollum. Both combo guards who can pass. CJ is a bit bigger but similar styles coming off screens or DHO’s for a pullup 3. Or getting a mid range shot off the dribble.
What is a Curry screen? When Curry screens for Draymond and slips sideways for a three? They did that, the very first play, I think, and Reed got a triple. It was great to see, great to see!! You have this kid, barely out of puberty, and he’s screening for Sengun, banging one of the biggest bullies in the NBA (Draymond). I honestly don’t have a visual memory of Jalen Green, who is half a foot bigger than Sheppard, ever setting a screen? Did he ever? I don’t think he wanted to risk nail polish chipping-off… And it’s not only that. When Draymond didn’t switch to chase Reed, and Alpi found him, he calmly nailed the three… That’s new this year. Last year he impressed me on several occasions hitting big guys with solid screens, I even commented here…. but you could see that the hits were knocking off his equilibrium, and he was missing badly when he got the ball back. Now he seems to be absorbing the contact much better and keeping his balance….
