That's him being held to a higher standard than the other top first round picks were held to. Reed's rookie season, even with the cold shooting at the start due to Ime's mismanagement, still was better overall than Jalen's or Jabari's.

Funny enough, the only top of the first round rookie who had a better rookie season than Reed overall according to the numbers, was Amen....who Ime also dicked around for most of the season.

After Reed went down to RGV, those coaches fixed what Ime broke almost immediately and then Reed shot over 40% the entire rest of the season....yet still struggled to get on the court due to Ime being Ime.....and the Rockets crashed out in the very first round to a 7 seed as a result.

Yeah this is dumb as hell but not surprising coming from you. Did you watch any games? Reed couldn't hit the side of a barn, was passive & was a liability on defense. Its not Ime's fault guys cant hit shots or defend. Blaming him for Reed's shortcomings is more blame shifting lack of accountability

Not sure where this liability on defense rhetoric is coming from.
Well I do, but it’s a tiresome fallacy.

He did hit his shots in the second half of the season though. 27% from 3 in the first half, then 41% for the second half. He started really really bad but once he got comfortable he showed his ability to shoot.

True but lets not act like Ime hurt Reed. Reed deserved to get benched due to inefficient play. Lets not make excuses for him like other posters have done

Ehh I think it goes both ways. He did hurt Reed, but he also helped the team. Ime could have played Reed more, and Reed would be in a better spot right now. But the rockets also would've lost more games. I wouldn't say I blame Ime for it, I think it's an understandable decision, he did what he had to do to win the most games. He wasn't willing to sacrifice wins for Reeds development. I'm fine with the decision.

Ime cares about Ime, as most coaches are like that. You need really strong leadership and a coach with strong buy-in, we have neither. OKC would never have done to reed what Ime did, no good organization would have. It's good for Ime, sucks for everyone else.

Golden State fans were livid at Joe Lacob when the Warriors traded away Monta Ellis to clear the way for Steph Curry.

Google and watch Chris Mullins' jersey retirement by the Warriors, which was a week after the trade. It was absolutely ridiculous how idiotic those fans were and it nearly ruined the ceremony. Of course, Rick Barry was one of the speakers and he threw gasoline on the fire (instead of dousing it with water) by blasting the crowd.

I've watched a boatload of NBA jersey retirements over the years and have never seen anything like that.

The fact you EXPECT any coach, let alone Ime Udoka to sacrifice wins for a unproven rookie lets me know the entitlement you give Reed. Amen didn't even get this treatment. Why would Reed get this entitlement?

Entitlement? It's got nothing to do with entitlement and nothing to do with Reed specifically. It's called developing your draft picks. Most teams do it because it's good and necessary for the franchise to succeed.

But Reed didn't show any improvements during his developmental minutes, so he was benched for a Holiday. Whats good for a franchise is winning & making players earn minutes. Amen had to earn his minutes why wouldn't Reed? Reed fans expected Ime to just give Reed PT at the expense of losing games. Thats not how it works

Beginning of the year he played like he didn't deserve to play. End of the year he played like a player who might become a star. I am excited to see him play in year 2

Wouldn't it have been better to lose a few more games and develop Reed knowing we lost in the first round anyways? Our team last year was soo flawed you didn't truly think we could win as constructed did you?

I disagree with this statement, early in the season Reed was given plenty of opportunity and playing time to impress, but he just wasn’t ready and sorely lacked confidence, a lot of nerves which affected his decision making and his fear to take open threes. That’s ultimately why he was put into RGV.

Yeah, I didnt really understand why we did some things that appeared we were trying to win at all costs, but then did other things like we were just trying to gain experience.

Well yeah, duh, hindsight is 20/20. But playoff experience is very valuable, and in a normal year I think the 2 seed means we probably win round 1. Even though we weren't going to win it all, I think there is a ton of value in getting to the second round, or the longshot of the WCF. But instead we ran into the warriors who were basically a 65 win team at the 7 seed.

playing Reed more didn't mean we weren't going to make playoffs. They still woulda got experience and Reed woulda got some playoff experience also. It's not about hindsight. It's about being realistic. We were not winning it all last year no matter what lineup we put out there.

Ime has too much control within the organization, he is practically a shadow GM next to Patrick Fertitta.

Not that his vision is totally bad but Ime is not somebody to fork with........

Now he is worried about market value and trade value of Sheppard .....

I do hope Reed gets a bigger role this season. He started to show some flashes at the end of the season, especially when he started a few games (averaged 20ppg). I was a bit bummed to hear they’re bringing back Holiday, tbh. I feel like he just ends up taking minutes away from Reed.
