Agree with time he may be better fit next to Amen. Also covers some of his defensive issues and has a much better bbiq. Amen can get to the hoop at will and finish much better than Jalen. It might set up better for him to come off the bench for a while and see if he can take the next step and trade Jalen at the deadline. In either scenario, FVV needs to be gone to make it work.
Thanks for elaborating. I am definitely not a Reed hater, I however do wonder if he can be the featured point guard on a title contender. Irregardless of my reservations, I want the Rockets to give him every chance to assume the full time PG duties. But I will admit, I am weary of him being included in a trade for either Durant or Giannis.
A low end result could be a better FVV, the high end is a hybrid of CP3 and Steph at least stylistically. He won't shoot as well as Steph because no one can, he won't be the "point God" CP3 was because no one will be.... so while we're not talking about the quality of those 2 that's still a very high ceiling.
Well that’s the expectation for drafting someone like Reed but that doesn’t mean he has a chance of being the primary playmaker for a playoff team or contender. I think FVV dribbling the ball so much was a function of the team not being ready to handle it. I haven’t seen anything from Reed to suggest he can be a primary playmaker but he can do be a very good Derrick White type player. Reed has a season under his belt and hopefully he spends the offseason getting his body up to the NBA standard and working on his handles and quick release.
traded for commander shep in my 2k team since rox clearly isn’t using him. breh has insane steal clips, didn’t know that’s part of his game.
In his final quarter of a season he shot 40% on 3's (on 3.1 attempts). Really hope he's putting on a lot of muscle as a priority. Excited for him to join the rotation.
According to bball reference, he actually shot 48.8% on threes in 12 games after the all-star break (21 for 43). Hopefully he'll get consistent minutes next season and shoot it well from the get-go.
Neither play defense worth a flip and that is why Ime will not play them. Ime was the right coach to develop a winning culture and a great defense. He is not a great coach at developing players or creating a championship level offense. I’m hoping his relative inexperience as a head coach is why and not that he is just a narcissist that will refuse to change no matter the evidence that his system is not good enough.
He's showing a little extra bounce here! I'm pretty sure he was fatigued from the season, and that effected his shot. Hopefully he keeps building up his conditioning.
Reed needs minutes. No question. He should fill a need for us. I would include him in a trade if need be depending on the return. Get rid of Cam though if possible and keep Reed
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/63...steven-adams-giannis-antetokounmpo-nba-draft/ • As the coaching staff ponders changes and improvements for next season, the role of guard Reed Sheppard has come to the forefront. Last season’s No. 3 pick in the draft, is slated for a vastly expanded role, team sources said, citing Sheppard’s floor spacing and IQ as much-needed qualities for a Rockets team that struggled in the halfcourt. Sheppard appeared in 52 games during his rookie campaign, averaging under 13 minutes per game, but there was a concerted effort to bring him up to speed — including a fruitful G League stint with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Sheppard is regarded within team circles as having an extremely high ceiling, which the coaching staff wants to tap into as soon as possible. • A larger chunk of playing time for Sheppard would diminish veteran Aaron Holiday’s role. Holiday emerged as a trusted option under Udoka over the past two seasons. He has a $4.9 million team option for next season, but the Rockets, who have expressed a desire to retain him, would likely wait and see how the rest of the roster pans out, along with the market, before circling back.
I can't see Jalen Green and Reed being a good fit. Just weird any time I see an article that talks up both. Green becoming the guy would fix a lot of problems, but I think the Rockets look hard at Reed if Green doesn't come out of the gate smoking hot. This would cause Green to get tied to FVV and lead Amen to play a lot with Reed.
And we lost every game that Holiday didn't play, he literally won when he played 9 and lost when he played 8.... Defense only teams never win anything - you need balance.....guys that are good on offense to balance out those defense only guys. DD
Jalen's not a good fit with anybody unless he actually realises his potential and stops turning into ass every now and then. But the fit is actually pretty much the same as Amen next to Reed, on offense Jalen/Amen looks to penetrate as the primary ball handler, Sheppard's there for the kick out with Jabari and another wing. On defense Jalen/Amen guards the 2 and Reed guards the 1. If you run all 3 then Amen slides to the 3/4/wherever the **** he wants who cares. Even as a 6th man Jalen's worthless unless he gets his **** together enough so it may all be academic regardless.
