Majority of people would do it Castle is taller, more athletic, better defender and even shooting better than Reed which is supposed to be where Reed excels at. Too bad Spurs wont trade the ROY favorite for the undersized pg shooting 33%.
You genuinely believe that castle will be a better shooter than reed? Do you ever listen do Dunc'd On? it's my favorite nba pod, they did a pretty good breakdown of why it's asinine to consider castle a ROY contender and why he's been so god damn awful this season. He's actually produced -0.7 VORP this season, which is worse than rookie jalen and if he had the minutes, would be worse than even rookie jabari.
He's at -0.1. If he had the minutes of castle he'd be at -0.3, which is obviously terrible. I think our disconnect is not that reed has sucked, because by any objective measure reed has sucked this season. Our disconnect is the absurd glazing of castle who has been literally one of the worst and most damaging players in the league this season.
Dude looks one day like Stockton the other day he looks like Anthony Bennett. He is more like Jalen Green with fewer flashes but better handles.
As bad as Castle is he has still been better than Reed. Also more durable and currently shooting better than Reed. Thats my issue, you keep tearing down Castle but he is better than Reed. Reed had one good game and then played bad for 2 games and then got what is prob a season ending injury. By all metrics Castle has been the better prospect so far and he also has a higher ceiling than Reed to boot. Nobody serious will take Reed over Castle in a redraft and thats just a fact.
I literally showed you a metric, that i think is generally pretty good, that shows that castle has been worse. There are definitely plenty of people who would take reed over castle in a redraft, i’m far from the only one. One thing you don’t seem to grasp is that players are not finished products as rookies, they typically improve. Look at scoot henderson, he was way worse than reed last year but now looks way better. Rookie Dirk shot 20% from 3, that didn’t mean he would never be able to shoot.
Maybe you can provide proof of that statement. For reference I searched "2025 nba rookie redraft" and not one has Reed Sheppard going over Castle. Castle was the all star mvp, he is always on the NBA rookie ladder, he will likely be the ROY. Reed had none of that didn't even appear on the rookie ladder besides preseason. Reed also had 0 in two games in ASG, thats a level playing field for everyone no teams or coaches who hate him to worry about. However if he can improve so can Castle, in fact Castle is seen as having a higher ceiling than Reed so most likely Castle will improve much more than Reed over the next 5 yrs. I believe Castle is also 6 mos younger than Reed as well. So he is better now and will most likely be better in the future. This is like asking would you trade Amen for Jett Howard tbh.
