Reed needs to go get Phil Mickelson's psychiatrist.

Yes I am ok with the pick cuz at the time Sheppard looked like he was a great fit. Shooting is something that usually translates from college to NBA (Jared Mcain, Gradey Dick, Jabari, Knecht etc) so have no clue why Sheppards shot has totally disappeared.

I agree, thats why to me if Sheppard gonna take multiple years to develop it was a bad pick.

But, I don’t think the Rockets or anyone else was viewing Sheppard as a long term project. Most people thought he was ready to contribute fairly soon. So, It’s only a bad pick in hindsight. Also, considering that the Rockets have so many young players that need minutes, it may not be a disaster if Sheppard takes a couple of years to develop. But, we could use a sharp shooter NOW.

Last night was abysmal. That has to be rock bottom. A get right game and he 0-8? Bricked that free throw too and they panned to the bench with the squad being like yo wtf

Cam seems like he’s back. I’m even wondering if he didn’t play through some injury thing. It’s baffling how poorly he played in summer league and preseason.

Holiday is a fine 4th guard. Reed needs to go drink from a firehose in the GL. Like literal 48 mpg efforts. Dude is shook. I’m not out on his future, but I’m hella-out on him playing any more minutes this year.

Don't you think it's a bit dumb.... even for someone as limited as yourself, to want to label Sheppard a bust because he's struggling with his shot after 300 minutes in the NBA despite you being the most absurd Jalen fanboi on this site who was still saying after 3000 minutes of Jalen's failures that we needed to wait more to judge him....

Yeah, it's time for a G league stint. I get that the competition is a huge step down but if nothing else he can get minutes, get up shots and hopefully regain his touch. At this point it might be more damaging to keep giving him NBA minutes.

I believe he still has a shot to be a weapon but he needs to show it at the professional level. I was hoping for at least average shooting for his rookie year. There's still time but the trajectory is not looking good. Way too early to call it a bust though. He'd need to tank in the G league and be equally bad next season for that label (IMO).

Agreed. I wouldn't give up on Reed at all.

Reed needs to go to the G-League and the Rockets need to put the ball in his hands and let him go. He needs to spread his wings and find his game. At this point to keep him on the course he's on is malpractice. Let Holiday & Amen have those guard minutes and play the long game with Reed while giving him time to develop.

I was against it initially, because he really does benefit more from 15 NBA minutes than he would from 35 G League minutes, but his shot has simply suffered too much. He needs a brief stint to get his shot right... to get his mind right.

I like the other stuff he's doing, but his shot is simply unacceptable right now. He squares that away and he's immediately back on track

He needs the Gleague to find his confidence, it will be harder to find it in 5-10 minute stints, get his man 30mpg on the Vipers.

I'm not panicking at all about Reed yet but I agree he needs a G League stint for his development. The positives for me are that the game doesn't look too fast for him, his stroke generally looks nice and a lot of times is just a hair off, he's holding his own defensively, and he makes a lot of smart reads. it's not a certainty but my bet is he's going to look drastically better by next season.

Smaller guys can take some time to adjust to the NBA line and smaller window to get a shot off. He needs to go to the G League and get up ~7 threes a game.

There was some handwringing about Amen before ~mid February last year too.

I would still take bets that he will have a better NBA career than Scoot Henderson.

In the last 4 games in 58 minutes of play, Reed, a 3 pt. sniper, has shot 3-20. Let that sink in. Now convince me that this is not shellshock.

No, you hope he has a better career than Scoot. Right now they're running neck and neck.

I'm not sure anyone would take that bet against you. At least not anyone that knows ball.

Castle can't shoot. We already had someone who couldn't shoot but could do everything else better than Castle. His name is Amen Thompson. Even Tate would probably have more trust from Ime at the backup PG spot. Castle would not have seen much more PT than Sheppard on the Rockets.

Of course I hope that. I'm a Rockets fan, not a Blazers fan.

    What about you?

The thing is, is that he’s here now. He’s been drafted, he’s on the team. It doesn’t do any good to rehash what we should have done or could have done. He may turn out to be a bust, or he may turn out to be really good.

He is very young, and it does take some players time to adjust to the NBA. So there is a chance that he could become really good. I think it is best to try to not make judgments on what he will ultimately become. It’s just too hard to predict these things.

I will say this. I don’t know what happened to Sheppard during training camp. In collage and summer league he seemed to play with confidence. Now, he seems very timid. I do think time in the G league could possibly help him.

Having said all that. I’m not too concerned about Sheppard. The Rockets are playing well and they are fun to watch. Who knows, maybe Sheppard will develop into a real weapon that propels the Rockets to the next level in a year or two. Time will tell.

I don't want to wait 4 years for either. Sheppard needs to show some sort of consistency at something by seasons end and absolutely can't be doing this next year.

Jalen straight up hasn't shown enough and should be trade bait this upcoming offseason.
