It would be an insult to Sheppard to put them in the same sentence. Even with his shot not falling, Sheppard is currently better overall than Jalen was in either of his first 2 seasons. I know casuals get confused easily by raw scoring totals... but nothing can help them
I get the point and back when he was just starting the draft process I wasn’t scared of his listed size right away either. I remembered watching a few Kentucky games and recalling him being small but when the draft got going I was like meh.. I trust the draft measurements I guess… until I started seeing him in more footage than ultimately seeing him in summer league I was like uhh ohh…WTF. Im just saying that as soon as I really saw him on the court and when you actually see him playing against NBA players he looks physically outmatched where smaller more athletic guards just physically don’t seem that small because of the way they play or their ability to maneuver around on offense where Reed just looks smothered. Im also not sure I trust his draft measurements either TBH but that’s not the issue. When you see a guy who physically is out of his league you just know it when you see it and Ive just been flummoxed that a team as prepared and risk adverse as the Rockets are weren’t a little bit concerned at all. And I get it about the weak draft. Totally makes sense to go with sure bet role players earlier in the draft in a weak draft. That being said at #3 that salary is such a high risk that it really changes the calculation for me. Top 5 picks now are on insane rookie pay scales and you have to max them out way too early every time it seems regardless if they have performed well yet or not…. Or get off of them super early. So the player that Reed is likely to be I can’t imagine the Rockets getting to take advantage of in 5 years anyways so it’s just a head scratcher. Either way it’s a fun season we got going and Stone has done well with enough of his picks to be happy enough. Just frustrating that it might be another 20 years before the Rockets get lucky enough to stumble on a top 3 draft pick out of nowhere.
This draft was all time bad is there really anyone you would want instead, just a bunch of average dudes none of them will become a star,
Ime plays Reed almost every game you should let him know he's unplayable because he clearly missed the memo. Reed hasn't shown one thing he excels at. But neither has Jalen and he's in his 4th year is my point. So we should be as patient with him as we've been with JG. If Reed is shooting 31% from 3 and 40% from the field in his 4th year I promise I'll have a big issue with it.
I was thinking before the draft that castle was probably the safest choice. I think I was right, he would already be effective in shortening Fred’s minutes…
If Amen (defense) and Holiday (shooting) can't shorten Fred's minutes, then Castle would have no chance. Castle isn't bad. But his biggest weakness is shooting, which is also the Rockets' biggest weakness.
I admit Jalen has obvious weakness. But this post is still ridiculous terrible. Reed is not even in top 20 rookies list this season.
Castle has an 84 TS+, he’s not playing at an nba rotation level. He’s just on a bad team so he gets minutes, he would get zero minutes here.
