Reed should be drafted by the Warriors. He is so unlucky to be coached by Ime. Ime is horrible at developing rookies.
Feels like he should have a stint in the G League just to get better rhythym and confidence. He is just not getting enough minutes right now to be comfortable enough.
Other top picks getting all the minutes while shooting 30% with license to screw up. Reed makes one mistake and it’s off to the bench. No wonder he’s reluctant with his shots.
Interesting developmental discussion. What would be better, meaningful ball handling opportunities against crappy G league competition, or limited role players minutes against real NBA players and defense. I tend to say any NBA minutes are better than G league minutes. If Reed's confidence isn't strong enough that he can't use this time for what it is without getting down on himself, then he's probably never gonna make it anyway. I think he'll be fine, it's a learning process for a player at his size who needs to learn angles and positioning to succeed. I always expected this to be a glorified red shirt season for Reed.
He doesn't need more minutes, he needs more shot attempts. The only rotation player shooting less than him per 36 minutes is Steven Adams. It should be the other way around, he should be shooting more shots per minute than anyone on the team. He averages more passed up open shots than shot attempts. It doesn't matter that he has great shooting percentages if he never shoots it. His passiveness is hurting the team. Someone needs to remind him he's not Ben Simmons.
He was more aggressive this game, as he gets better he can force double teams and make plays for others. He did get hunted defensively and will need to work on his lateral explosiveness and strength, but he's a young rookie and will learn and get better over the years.
I watched tonight's game on and off (because it's boring). The few possessions I saw Reed played he hardly did anything. The only times he received a pass were when a big man grabbed a defensive rebound and gave it to him to bring it up court. When he passed the half court, he wasn't even looking to initiate the offense. Nobody set a pick for him. He didn't try to break down his man. He just passed it to somebody and stood behind the 3pt line, and he never touched the ball again in the possession. I thought he played exactly like Jabari.
I knew it!! I told yall way before the season started!! When things start to go wrong, it will be everybody else's fault but Reeds. Now its Imes fault that he's lost his magic shot! Its Imes fault that he's being shot over on the defensive end! Its Coachbadlees fault because he's always right!!! Waaa waaa waaa!!!
