I'm sure you find both her and Green equally attractive.

You do realize Reed is not a SG.

Doubt he's putting much pressure on him. LOL.

Reed can be a SG if Amen is the PG. Anyway, it'll be interesting how the backcourt will be like after Fred is gone. There are so many moving parts.

Got a feeling the future starting 5 will be...

    Reed

That's the objective of the next 3 years in a nutshell.

Fred, Dillon, Holiday were going to be replaced, how is Tate still on this squad?

Each one is needed for a championship team to be formed. Without them there is just a team of youngsters with no real playoff or championship experience.

Tate is the white & less talented U Haslem for the Rockets.

Yes, but I would still upgrade to a Derrick White, PJ Washington, those role types that are battle tested in the postseason.

Both good players but I was thinking after this next season of play together and hopefully a deep playoff run at least, they would sign on for cheaper than they are now. Run it back one more time to see if they could make it all the way. I'm expecting a lot from this team.

Exactly so for Reed to start, Amen should have beat out FVV already. Doesn't work if he beats out Dillon because you'll still have Reed/FVV backcourt which is way too small.

The likelihood we bench FVV (should take at minimum a couple dozen games) and then after that Sheppard will beat out Green is so incredibly low.

If I'm Sheppard I'm not waiting to win the lottery. I aim for FVV's minutes myself. I think he has as good a chance - if not better - than Amen at winning that PG spot. Still unlikely for the rook, but more likely than the other sequence of events.

Also inseparable from the situation: whoever replaces Green has to be able to make defenses collapse. A catch and shooter turns us into a better team than last season but a treadmill team. That's the whole reason we were so patient with Green even when Cam was shooting lights out initially. Amen cannot do that consistently with defenses sagging. Reed would have to do it that frequently for the first time in his life.

I think people are asking toooooo much of Reed. I'm starting to see the classic cycle being born. People arbitrarily raising the bar high for a young player, then getting mad at him for not reaching it. Give the kid a chance, we won't be disappointed in his career.

I am not suggesting that Reed will beat out FVV. Fred will be the starting PG for at least one more season, if he's not traded before that. Amen and Reed will probably see minutes at that spot. And don't forget we still have Holiday.

I was talking about after this season when FVV is almost certainly gone. That backcourt has a lot of uncertainty that needs to be sorted out this year. Like I said, a lot of moving parts. (1) We don't know if Amen will be able to handle the 1 full-time. (2) We don't know if Jalen will breakout and secure a permanent spot at the 2. The outcomes of these two things will likely determine whether Reed will be the starting PG of the future. And there is a third moving part: Cam Whitmore. We also don't know if he will be good enough to be a starter and at which position.

Don't forget that Amen, Cam, and Reed are all very raw. There are lots of possibilities in how they will develop.

Yes, the backcourt has lots of questions. While I believe the Rockets will make a definite decision on Jalen Green sometime this season, the other guys, Cam, Amen, and Reed may take longer. We haven't had a very long look at any of them compared to JG. It wouldn't shock me if FVV becomes necessary for one more season after this coming one. Of course, everything depends on what progress these guys make during the course of the season.

Or we sign Booker after Phoenix implodes.

IMO, the only way Booker becomes available this coming season is if Durant and Beal have season ending injuries early in the season. Otherwise, they will give their new coach time to make their roster gel. The only other possibility is that Phoenix is just downright terrible, despite being healthy and that seems unlikely to me.

We'll see when the real games begin, but one thing I like about Reed so far is his attitude. Seems like he is a competitor and yet will keep his cool. I hope that impression turns into reality.

Reed is not a PG, and JG is gone.

    He better be a PG.

I see Reed as a guy that can play a tad of point, but is really a tweener. Undersized 2, without the ball handling ability or lateral agility of someone like Price up top. Defensive inadequacies that are perhaps offset on the other side by his feel for the game and shooting. I'm not saying he can't be a good addition, but believe three was too high. He has a nice floor though.

Former players, coaches and analysts have predicted he'd be ROY. In that draft, he goes 3rd. Might end up that he should've gone 1st. But he's definitely going to be at the point.
