Yeah he played a decently sized role with Kentucky from what I can remember, but I don't think people realize in this discussion that Reed is very much still a young prospect. He is drafted based on potential, not his resume. He was a prospect when he was a top 50 recruit because of his high school resume for sure, but he didn't necessarily have a lengthy college, summer league, and now G-league career. People don't realize he was in high school like... not that long ago. If this was a movie, we've basically seen the Teaser Trailer at this point. He's still VERY young, and still very much a prospect... for better or worse. It's not worth debating much of anything other than his size which is my only real concern, but hope you can prove me wrong.
I'm not sure what's going with this minutes conversation. The overwhelming majority of nba players were great at lower levels and played more minutes. Most have to learn to make the most of their time being more limited than before. It's very typical. I expect Reed will learn that as well.
Agreed. The same idiot that bashed Jalen for years saying he only got minutes because of draft position is now advocating firing the coach for not playing Reed enough. You can’t make that stuff up. For the record, I like Reed and his potential. But he needs to learn to make better use of his limited minutes. No more that passive ****.
I know i often have to explain things to dumb or dishonest people, so here goes. There is a difference between giving a high draft pick rookie a starting role and 30+ minutes per game fit several years that they don't earn and advocating that a high draft pick rookie consistently get about 15 minutes per game to help develop their rookie season. Also, I never advocated for firing Udoka for his incompetence when it comes to minutes management and rotations...I merely criticized him for it. Do you best to think on this and see if eventually you comprehend some of it.
Not sure if this is happening to anyone else, but I find it funny. When I go to be bbs.clutchfans.net and this is the top thread in the Garm, it shows: Latest: Reed Sheppard ..." and then only the first three letters of the next word. Yes, I feel 13 again.
I was admittedly not very interested in last year's draft. Now that I have taken a closer look, I can see how we drafted Sheppard based on talent and development for a likely future trade. I am not attached anymore. He has no future in Ime's system.
Can we send him back to play? They play Friyay 17th, Monday 20th, not again until the 25th and not again until the 31st. Damn.
Yeah, he'll probably go back down once those games start back up. Udoka is clearly not interested in giving him any minutes, which is fine given that we won. Hopefully at some point a trade happens to dump some of the chaff from the roster like Tate and Holiday so that Ime will stop playing them.
Damn imagine if Ime had played Reed then he could have scored 49 again and we would have won by 51 against the Grizzlies instead of just 2
But don't you think you have to take into account the team. As in Jalen got minutes when he entered the league bc rockets were trying to suck and not win games vs now where they are neck to neck with top teams? Like I dont think Jalen plays 30 or even 15 min if this was his rookie year and he played the way he did as a rookie.
My point was that I wasn't being irrational and arguing that Reed Sheppard get the Jalen Green treatment because the team is in a different place and doesn't want to lose games. My argument is for him to get SOME minutes. Players can't develop without at least SOME playing time and honestly it should be consistent playing time. Giving Reed Sheppard the 10 or so minutes per game they give to Aaron Holiday wouldn't harm the team's record in any way, but would do wonders for his development. Holiday is not a player who has a future with this team....or any team honestly, he should be in the Boban role just picking up a paycheck. Instead Ime is doing the stubborn coach thing of forcing guys in rotation simply because they are vets.
