Wah wah wah.. He's a ROOKIE. I like Reed but yall whine too much. He's had more than enough opportunity to play well. Cam was outstanding for the Rockets last season in limited minutes and had to go to the G League this season in favor of Reed. If the Rockets were in the same position as Phoenix or the Kings etc, I could understand the crocodile tears. They've tried resting FVV so Reed can get some burn. Amen's even sacrificed not handling the ball on different occasions so Reed could run point. Tate and Holiday are both good players and were riding the bench (this is a contract year for Tate). Reed wasn't always just sitting in the corner waiting for the ball, but even that didn't work out well for him. Y'all want the Rockets to not focus on winning just to develop one player? You want Udoka to sacrifice his job to ensure Reed transforms into "Cocaine Curry" year one? Y'all think John Stockton and Steve Nash became stars their first year? Hell naw. Reality is, it's a possibility that it could take 4 - 5 years for him to be come Steve Nash-like. You know, the same amount of years it took for Steve Nash. "Udoka has no room for errors." You're right. He was hired here to win games. He's overachieved with this roster. They could have stuck with the same guard rotation at the start of the season and won just as many games or more without Reed ever playing, but Reed was given an opportunity (over other players who deserve minutes) and will have plenty more. Winning needs to be prioritized. It opens up more opportunities for the Rockets, like top tier free agents being interested in coming to Houston without the Rockets having to give up key assets, in addition to the increase in value of all the players currently in rotation. Winning a championship is every team's ultimate goal. Rockets won't get there this season but they're set up beautifully for a run at it for years to come. Y'all just need to be patient. Don't **** up the morale and chemistry this team has by forcing a player who isn't ready into the rotation. It's a slap in the face to the rest of the players and would cause tension in the locker room. It's a tough job keeping all the players (and their agents) happy.
Technically....but he played starter minutes. That poster probably means (i think) that hes not used to playing so few minutes.
Harden was "technically" a bench player before he was traded to Houston. The player who started before him every game was Thabo Sefolosha who played 10 mpg less than Harden.
I'm glad that there's still some here who have the patience to teach the basics to our casual fan friends.
Casual fan of the last draft class. I had no idea he was a bench player at UK with all of those minutes. Something's off here for him to be the 3rd pick but not used as a starter at UK. Some kind of humiliation ritual? Is he bad with coaches and needs to constantly be knocked down a peg by people with authority over him? Showcase the hell out of him and get him out of town if that's the case. Something is definitely off now that I am looking at more details of college career. Kid might be unteachable.
Both Sheppard and Rob Dillingham were coming off the bench because the coach promised other guys starting roles when he recruited them....despite those 2 being BY FAR the best players on the team. This decision cost the coach his job.
Ugh, 3 points in a first round loss to Oakland. I am now sensing that Reed is big time spoiled and wondering why we even drafted him. Checking out for the tournament is a sign of really bad discipline/motivation.
Oh, this guy is just a mindless troll? Gotcha. It's often hard to tell the difference between those around here who are just genuinely stupid and those who are merely trolls.
Yeah, but there's more to the story. Sheppard seems like a bad egg. I have changed my opinion about him. He's giving me Poole vibes.
Why would I troll our 3rd pick in last year's draft? I think they just drafted him on talent and upside with a plan to trade him. I don't think he fits Ime's style one bit. I bet he's gone this year or the next.
If we can package something with him to get Sexton, send him to Utah. He won't be ready to be a rotational player on a playoff team for another 3 years and Sexton has all the tools to buy into Ime's system and play either guard position.
