NBA game is different. Seems as if he is uncomfortable and clear to me he is hesitant and learning and processing the game. Can be a serviceable bench guy in a year or 2.
The bar has dropped so low serviceable bench guy in a few years maybe… we had dudes say he’s franchise player on day 1
Going back and editing won't change all of our memories. You and DD both were parroting the same thing.
Every game every minute is important. Rockets lost by 1 vs T-Wolves and Reed played about 4 minutes and was a ( -- 6 ). Post game I posted, how many games do we have to see, of Sheppard, to understand he is not ready for the NBA. Somebody wrote, well, if he played for Washington, he would get a ton of minutes. Yes. then let's trade him to Washington. How does Sheppard playing for Washington (non competitive) help the Rockets (fighting for seeding) ? *Reed can go to G-league to help develop *Work on quickening his release during practice (not much practice during season) *Use his 42 inch vertical to help create a higher release point. Stone should have listened to Udoka........or Tilman the year before. W - L results may cost someone a job. Playing for the playoffs changes the dynamics of each game. No longer just training up babies at daycare anymore.
Again kid, when you have to lie, you aren't fooling anyone with a fully functioning brain... and those are the only people who matter. Though we are in short supply these days.
Playing Reed 4 minutes in the 2nd quarter did not cost us the game. We were up by 16 and could not close it out, same as the Heat game.
This team growing through good and bad times will pay dividends in 2-3 years. Sacrificing the futur3 for a win or two this year makes no sense. That failed Sean Elliott in that Horry deal back in the mid 90s saved us from ourselves... and arguably same with the vetoed Pau/CP3 deal.
Makes plenty sense when the Rockets have been drafting 2 first round picks 3 years in a row. Teams with 2 (4th yr players), 2 (3rd yr players), 2 (2nd yr players) plus add one under 20 y/o.... 7 players under 23 to 19 and you don't think it's like running a daycare. By the time we train up the oldest....it's time for them to move on or there becomes a bottleneck of talent that the Rockets can't afford to pay all of them. Unless we are turning into a G-league team, we are just training up guys to join other teams. We, the Rockets end up putting blood, sweat, and tears (time & money)training up these guys. For what? To trade them while they are borderline peaking as 25 year olds. Most players peak at age 27. Other teams will be reaping the rewards. Just like Jalen Green and Kuminga that want max money but aren't consistent, teams have to wonder if trading for them is worth it. Could still be boom or bust at age 25. Most teams have M.I.T. lawyers running things and don't have my eye for talent. That's where teams make a mistake and draft Reed Sheppard number 3 when I said don't. Dude almost has to change his whole shot to make in the NBA. Not an easy task. And definitely hard vs the best talent in the world in live action. Dude isn't in KANSAS anymore with ToTo.....or Kentucky. You are in the NBA son. Players don't wait for you to get comfortable while taking a shot.
100%. And it crosses over to all Houston sports. Mofos like putting limitations on players before they're finished developing and ignore the strides they take. How players react to adversity is part of the evolution. Stros is the best example on destroying narratives. A certain goat that some people wanted gone over and over again. The only Houston players I was never patient with were: Villar, because he was blocking the great #1. Needed him out. Kenyon Green, I still think he can figure it own down the road. And watching how 8 year vets forget how to pick up a stunt says there is something foundationally wrong with whoever is teaching them. Just stay in the bench. Oh and Bill Teapot O'brian . Never liked him impersonating hoodie. Kind of funny now. Props to Tony Montana. He is still locking and loading his little friend for BoB.
Bryce Drew is actually a decent comparison. Maybe someday our third pick will be good enough to unseat Aaron Holiday for the backup role.
Just imagine how much better this team would have been with Clingan, Knect, or Edey. Somebody in the front office should get the heave for this screw up. I can live with a 7’6” mistake, but not a 6’2 (being nice) mistake. Biggest game of Reed’s college career he scored 0 points in 26 minutes against Oakland in NCAA tournament. Edey averaged 30-15 against the best competition and defenses solely designed to stop him. Sometimes you just go with logic and your own eyes.
I know you're obsessed with white stiff bigs for whatever reason but why Knecht? He's already almost 24 and would not play a minute on this team with how horrifying he is on defense, dude makes reed look like gary payton.
I won’t say bust just yet but the writing seems to be on the wall. I remember vividly before the draft many posters claiming his ceiling to be Steph Curry, CP3, or Stockton. I scratched my head then and I’m still scratching it now. His ONE for sure thing coming out of college was supposed to be his shooting. And not even that has panned out. He looks intimidated and in over his head out there. I will say I’m rooting for the kid, I want him to succeed. I just get the feeling many ppl are going to be sorely disappointed at even putting him in the same sentence as the greats they compared him to.
You literally value Brickpard over D Aaron Fox pretty sure you are the one obsessed with white dudes.
It cost us the game since we lost by just 1 pt. If we didnt play Brickpard and his 0/0/0 in 4 minutes do you think we would have won the game? Yes. So therefore he cost us the game.
You called Brickpard a top quality prospect and said you wont trade him for Fox. The fact you dont want Fox but see Brickpard as a high quality prospect shows how much bias you have. Hate the former all star but love the 3 ppg guy? Reminds me of the Linfans who wanted Harden gone so Lin can start. But at least Lin was a playable guy Sheppard is the 1 pt in 18 mins guy..
I know you hate reed (for whatever reasons). I don't hate fox, i just don't want him on this rockets team because of the reasons i've stated many times. If you disagree, that's fine. If you think reed has no hope, that's fine. If reed was gonna be on a 55 mil a year deal guess what, i wouldn't want him either.
