    Strange, indeed.

You bench a guy then give him $40 million guaranteed?

Unless the Skins FO knows something about next year that we don't ...

Even if they did, this is still ridiculous.

Considering Vick will be a free agent in the off-season and is younger than McNabb and going by his play so far this season, would make the Redskins offense more dynamic if they brought him in, why not wait till the off-season and see what's up??

The Skins braintrust continue to confound.

McNabb is having his worst year of his career and you give him this huge contract. Wow. Makes no sense. Sure he doesn't have many options to throw the ball too but damn this is a lot of money for a potentially declining 34 year old. Michael Vick has been much better this year so I am curious to see what type of deal he gets with him hitting free agency after this season.

I've sat here and tried to make sense of this deal. Sure, he is a franchise quarterback and may give your team a better chance to win without having to go after a free agent or rookie.

But his age plus the fact that Washington needs help in multiple areas on the offense (wide receiver, running back and offensive line), I just don't see him being worth that much.

I want to say it is "I'm sorry" money/contract for what played out over the last two weeks. Maybe to boost team morale to keep some semblance of order and a playoff shot alive. Same thing happened in Philadelphia two years ago when he got benched against the Ravens except it came after a good post-season run. I just don't know.

Also, people keep talking like Vick to Washington would be a sure thing. Even if Philadelphia decides to go with Kolb, they're not just going to let Vick walk. They can franchise him and then he becomes instant trade bait for several teams out there that will probably be searching for a franchise quarterback next year.

This is the most expensive apology since Kobe Bryant's affair.

Surprising because I thought Shanny would outlast McNabb. I wouldn't want to play for a coach who swaps in Unleash the dragon Rex with the game on the line.

Yeah, I remember posting that and actually remember what game it is from. It is before the Dallas game in last season's playoffs when they go thrashed.....for the second week in a row.

Crazy contract. I like McNabb and all, but this is ridiculous. If you want to bet safe, just put your money on Dan Snyder making bad decisions.

This also makes Shanahan look even worse. I have zero respect for the guy. I thought he took the Haynesworth thing too far, but his three-way excuse for benching McNabb for REX GROSSMAN made my head explode.
