Doesn't look that way when he lets the potential go-ahead run get on base for nothing in the top of the 9th inning (that guy is now in scoring position).
fairly good inning for Lidge there. He actually threw a few sliders for strikes even though a couple got away. He is looking closer and closer to his old self.
Good job by Lidge. He is starting to resemble the Lidge we know. Come on Bats lets go get this win ...
A leadoff walk by our bullpen late in a tight game .. what a shock On top of that he walked one of their fastest guys.
R I P Astros 2006.....just get Biggio as close to 3000 as possible and let Roger retire for good, and retool without Pettit. DD
Well nows the time for Bruntlett to show us why he belongs in there instead of AE. Show me something Eric.
Before we all throw dirt on the season (in June!) can we make a few moves to shore up the bullpen and get another bat while we wait on Clemens to return? With Pujols out the Astros have a golden opportunity to get back into this thing.
He did that... AND THEN SOME. Burke should be an everyday player... and hitting in the #2 hole (or leadoff). He has GREAT AB's when he's comfortable... and he just looks more comfortable at the top of the lineup. And Willy can make me eat my words with a game winning hit now.
If Taverez can not bunt for a hit or bat leadoff, then he is significantly diminished as a player....2 meek attempts during that at bat. Time to put Willy on the bench and bring him in as a Pinch runner, or demote him to RR to let him work on hitting. DD
I don't think its "leadoff or bust" for him. He hits a lot of singles... which is good to have as your 8 hitter (and the pitcher can bunt him over). Burke is going to have to get more playing time, and some of it will be in CF, but I don't think he can be the everyday guy... I just hope that when Willy IS in CF, Burke is playing as well... and batting in his place as #1 or #2 at the top of the lineup.
